Scariest movie or game of all time

The problem with horror nowadays, whether it's videogames or movies, etc, is that they all now rely on blood and gore with no substance to make it scary.

Well anyways, the scariest movie of all time for me would either be

-Event Horizon
, I say this movie because I think the actual situation is probably the most intense and horrifying if it were real, you're stuck on a spaceship billions of miles away from any contact, and have a couple hours before the ship teleports to a realm of unimaginable pain and you get tormented for eternity. The only downside is that it does suffer a bit from the low budget but makes it up some pretty good actors.

-Aliens, second film in the series and best if you ask me. Again it was intense and looked incredibly real especially given the year it was made. Also it was varied and didn't rely only on gore or suspense as so many other do.

Scariest videogame of all time in my opinion is definitely

-Condemned: Criminal Origins, it felt very real and it was also first person which made it feel as though you were there yourself, so to speak. It was just very well made, the environment, the gameplay, the suspense, the audio especially, definitely recommend this game to any horror fan. Plus you get to kill hobos.

Second scariest

Aliens vs Predator:1999 game, for it's time it was very well done, excellent gameplay, and it keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole way through. It's first person also. I haven't played this game in years but when I did I remember it constantly made me jump.

even though now I'm not scared of them, I used to be when I first watched/played them. So yeah those are my top scariest games and movies and I would like to hear everyone elses choices.

Even Horizon had a $70 million budget. Higher than Anaconda, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Scream 2, and The Devil's Advocate which were all released that same year. So your commentary fails.

It's considered low budget by some people. I believe even the director commented on it. Low budget is different between genres...$70 million for a comedy could be considered high budget but for like an action or horror it could be considered low budget.

It depends on the type of movie what they were trying to achieve.

Regardless I don't feel like arguing about this, so if you're not gonna name your favorite horror movies or games then don't bother posting.

Wrong. I just listed movies within the same relative genre, released the same year, with lower budgets. Event Horizon has many failings, but cheap effects isn't one of them.

I post what I want to, cupcake. Deal with it or piss off.

Well that's what I heard from many people and I never said it had cheap effects. Event Horzion is my favorite horror, but it did have some weird audio. If you listen to the fight scene in the end, the punches were like "Pow...Pow...Pow" Still an amazing movie though, it's just that one thing that bothered me. And if I did hear wrong well my bad, I'm not condemning the movie for it.

Oh yeah i know that movie, I've seen the American version of it which was ok, could have been better. From what I hear the japanese ones are always better, ring/grudge/pulse/etc.

The American version of the Ring was really good. The American version of Pulse was a fucking travesty that had almost no meaningful connection to the Japanese film.

Yeah, like the story was just too over the top and didn't make sense really.

I am of the view that Lightbringer has raised some really valid points here. Previously most of the horror movies were using situations to create horror. But now blood and gore is used to frighten us. If we take the case of classical horror movies like Psycho you can see that the amount of blood spilled is very low though the amount of fear generated was too high. The scariest movie I have ever seen is “The Exorcist”. In my view it is the best horror movie ever made.

The most scariest movie of all time is " The Exorcist ". When the girl turns her head all around it gives me the creeps.

This is a punishment for our sins. We abused all the goth and emo kids and now we're here ten years later and all we have to make fun of is spambots. And each other. And Dyshade.

God, Dyshade is such a prick.
