Ideas for a strategy game

Theres one thing I've noticed strategy games lacking nowadays, and that's good old fashioned darkness. I suggest we brainstorm on a new strategy game idea, a ninja game that is amidst plot benefitting shadow and darkness, with an RPG feel in that you can design your own characters traits, like hair color, size, and most importantly class. I came up with some classes (Thief, shadow, magic, war, medic, summoner, karate, Advanced) they are all different ninjas specializing in different things. Some may focus more on battle while others (Thief and medic for example) wont necessarily need to be in battle to assist their teammates. Basically I want to make it like Ninja Gaiden Black meets Final Fantasy Tactics meets Multiplayer (WOW, Diablo2, etc) have fun brainstorming there is no limit to the things we can create and the ideas we can merge together.

Games like Splinter Cell already have a ninja approach. If you stick to a pen and paper RPG format then you might be able to pull it off (cost wise), but I think a game like that would be drawn out for too long at a time.
Not to insult you or anything, but perhaps you should just design a better ninja class for a RPG you enjoy?

Ninja type appraoches to games usually make the battles short, and the final and only punches brutal. So it's really all planning and a swift win after. If you can find a way to eliminate all the planning (such as giving a time limit, haveing enemy forces trying to find you asap, ect.), then you might have something.
Otherwise your post isn't very informative to what you're trying to say. All I'm understanding is you want to make a new game, based on a ninja approach.

Yes Alpha thats all I said, I thought about it for about 3-10 minutes, wrote down some classes and ill let you guys go at it, Im not a writer, Im not a game designer, but I do make music for video games (I have a song in the new ff12 gaming coming out ) Im not a game designer nor will I ever be I am a musician. In fact I've already begun to write the soundtrack, I just thought I'd lay down some base rules that you guys could change if you felt necessary and work off of to create something better than the video games out today, I am only a musician and have skills in no other fields besides minor storyline writing.

What you need to do Alpha, is decide which part of the game making process you want to be involved with. It seems you are most concerned with the battle gameplay so I hereby leave you in charge of all things "Battle gameplay" you will have no need to design elsewhere because I've assigned you to this particular part of the game. PM me if you want to change positions, but I really do think your suitable to design our battle mechanics. This may entail some enemy/creature aspect, Im not asking you to write a (MONSTER'S MANUALtm) but the way the monsters fight in battle, that will be all up to you.

I think that the early FF's were good. I liked Secret Of Mana and Breath Of Fire as well. Though so far I have found Secret Of Mana, Chrono Trigger and 7th Guest do be the darkest.

Im only wondering if 7th guest is the same as 7th saga. I like FF2 US you know the one with Cecil where you go to the moon and shit, I must have played that game 300 times in my life. 7th saga is raw as well. Breath of fire 2 is great and chrono trigger is my all-time favorite.

Yeah I meant 7th Saga. Have you never played Secret Of Mana? Secret Of Mana is my fave. The only thing I don't like is that you have to level up magic by using it.

Secret of mana was very colorful, the battleplay was neat and I liked the terrain it wasn't all skip-dee-doo around a huge flat map like final fantasy. Another one I liked was Bahamut lagoon, where you got all the different dragons plus that game was excellent.

Well if you're into SNES rpg emulation I suggest you go to freeroms.com and download it. It's a japanese version but the story never is that great in those oldschool squaresoft games, dragons are sweet though.
