I went up from 10 and a half stone to nearly 14 stone last year. I just cant stand the idea of dieting or exercising everyday to get rid of some of the gut flab though. :/

There are some plans that don't feel like a diet though. I mean mine does, because I'm quite restrictive. Is it junk food? or just more of an inactivity thing?

It's incredibly daunting. I went into this with an impending sense of doom, but now it's ok. I'm still hungry at times, but I have a stronger will to stick to it. I also like the gym because my aim is to be able to run 5km without stopping.

Both. The only time I have a get up and go attitude is when I need to go to the bathroom.

I'm wearing an old pair of jeans right now that are definitely not as tight as before. My gut has definitely gotten smaller too . . .
At this point I don't dare slow down out of fear that I'll screw my metabolism up and be worse off then before.

Wow. Four stone in a year. That's impressive.

Still, how tall are you?
My husband is 6 ft 4" and he's 14 1/2, and looks fine, normal.
Maybe you just filled out into you manhood a little...it might not be as bad as you think..

My butt is SO much bigger than yours, I promise you, and it's so nice to actually see your butt getting smaller.

It's completely out of proportion with the rest of my body.

My manhood was filled out before thank ya.
I just must have porked out a lot or something. I dont tend to willingly go without food as much now.

I was like that today. I moved for food and bathroom. And phone. When i got to the gym it was 4x harder than yesterday, when I moved around. Urm, urm, urm.

What Niv said, you might be motivated by us!

I hate dieting, but I feel so much better knowing I have eaten well, and what I've eaten won't cause me to gain weight. La probleme is when I have lost the weight, I can never eat 'normally' again.

I dont like exercising in front of people, so about the only things I`ve ever done is a little bit of weightlifting now and then..but I cant keep to that for long either.

People call it a diet like it's some short term thing but to do it right it really should be a change in lifestyle. Fortunately I already eat pretty healthy but eating less and in smaller amounts really seems to have helped.

Oo Sybs, that reminds me of this bloke I saw on Discovery once.

He's like 80 and runs marathons, and is a scientist.
He worked out that the human body works best when it has just under what it needs, as this is how primative man would have lived, etc. So, he eats organic, vegetarian food and sticks to 1800 a day, when his particular requirement is 2000. He believes this is why he is still so healthy, so maybe it's best if we keep things a litttle lower, as that way the odd binges won't make a difference.

And remember ladies, it's 30 cals used per day per Kg, so weigh yourself to get an idea of your metabolism.

Red, it's more for men but I'm not sure what. Still, you could probably eat a good 2000 or so and lose weight steadily, especially if you exercised.

Come one, become one of us...

Neither could I:

I was fine, a small size 12, and then Macdonalds and alcohol made me a 14, so I cut out the junk and went back down to a 12. Got anorexic, went down to an 8. Stopped being anorexic, went up gradually to a 16. I spent over a year trying to start this diet, and only managed it last week.
I would do 2 days and then get bored and binge on chocolate, sweets, biscuits- anything 'bad', then promise myself the next day would be the 'real' start. In the course of last year, although I never stuck to anything (fasting or a diet) for more than 3 days I managed to lose a stone and a half, although I really didn't deserve to, believe me.

Just last week, I thought 'this is it, I'm fed up of it' (for the hundredth time at least, but something in me has made me stick to this, and I'm bloody well determined to see it through. I cannot afford to slip up, because one 'bad' piece of food messes up (psychologically) all my hard work so far.

It's not easy, it's far from easy, but if you want to I (and we) will help you.
