Monkies typing Shakespeare

You all know the story...

It has been proposed that if you put an infinite number of monkies in front of typewriters thay will produce the works of Shakespeare.

In the paper this morning (UK Daily mail, I can't find the article online) there was an article about a study done to prove this theory.

They found in fact that it doesn't work. the monkies in fact just repeatedly hit the same key.

Another great theory down the pan

Its a infinite amount of monkeys with a infinite amount of typewriters for a infinite amount of time, I dont see how they could disprove something like that. Although sometimes its a million and not infinite, that would be unlikely to work out.

Given an infinite amount of time, ANYTHING is possible.

Period.

Hmph

If you're going to bring up the subject, the least you can do is provide a link to the original topic article...

Monkeys type, but no Shakespeare

i think the point is if monkeys are repetitive no matter how long or how many the same result is produced.

Thanks Shadowborn, I was out of action last week and couldn't find a link before hand

The Thing about the monkeys is an exlaination of the premise that in an infinite universe there are no impossibilities only varying levels of improbability.

Shrodinger used a cat to explain his idea, this one just uses monkies

I remember a few years back there was a project in the same place to find out why rice crispies go "snap, crackle and pop"
