Hedonism
n. he·don·ism (hdn-zm)
Pursuit of or devotion to pleasure, especially to the pleasures of the senses.
often referred to as the 'sex, drugs, rock n roll' lifestyle..
I tend to indulge in this, thus I suppose I can be selfish, but not to an extreme. I delight in the pleasure of others as much as my own, their happiness is a factor in mine.
I know there are particular others out there who are akin.. so my hedonistic others, come and expound your fancies!

Apart from Heroin (I have always been revolted by that) I took just about everything ever grown or made when I was younger... At the time I thought it was very cool and romantic, and it was only thorugh years of trying to stop absuing drugs, and finally managing to get a grip of myself that I realised how desperate it actually was...
I'm not saying it's the same for you Sybelle, I know some people can take drugs with impunity and still function perfectly normally in the world, but I wasn't one of them...
I seem able to handle alcohol pretty well though, and I still have some pretty wild nights even though I'm a Vodka and Coke kinda guy from way back... I'm a rock guitarist and a recording enthusiast, but you can't always be the living legend...

Drugs have never been of much interest to me, maybe because I always knew where to get them, and I grew up with easy access to them they never had that mystique, that danger.
Sure I smoked, but I never needed cigs. I could be on 20 a day for a few months and then cold-turkey with no problems.
I do like my drink, and no party for me is entirely complete without it. Its so much of a habit amongst my friends and I that its tradition. We dont need it, but we have it all the same.
At gigs I drink, and partly that is practical so that when heavy metal objects hit me in the face (which they invariably do, or maybe I just have 'victim' complex) it numbs the pain

I actually found drugs easier to get than drink. Off lisences wouldn't give me tick. Are you a musician Sybelle? People throw metal objects at you at gigs?
I was quite lucky, the headstock and neck on bass guitars are quite big, so all I really got was the odd bit of dessicated egg and sliced tomato. It was our singer who had to run for cover when the rotten veg started coming...

Well the band I used to groupie with do, but honestly, its terrible. Thrash metal screaming shouting crap. The bassist is hot but..
I would give you a URL so you can decise for yourself but I cant find one. If you were at all interested they were and English group called 'Lethal Injection' fronted by Carl Bangay, and are now an English group called 'Screaming Her Pain'.

That's funny, I've never heard it referred to quite that way before...
For me a hedonistic lifestyle comes pretty naturally. It's actually kind of funny, not too long ago my g/f stopped by one morning to hang out. So I made us some espresso and pulled out some strawberries all without bothering to get dressed. She just started laughing and asked if I planned on getting dressed or just hanging around naked all day drinking espresso and eating strawberries. I said, "Sounds good to me" and it did.
That's how it is for me though, I like to be comfortable with as many of my senses engaged as possible. On a late summer afternoon it's always a real treat to go to the museum cafes downtown. You can sit outside sipping wine, surrounded by priceless works of art, with the sunset and the scent of the flowers from the gallery gardens drifting through the air.
Of course, there's always the sexual aspect of it and I have to agree with you. To really get the maximum amount of enjoyment I need to satisfy my partner as much as she satisfies me. Sometimes it's all I need to go down on her for something like an hour. Just taking my time, enjoying her and listening to her enjoy herself. It's a beautiful thing.
