I dunno how many of you have played final fantasy, and i cna see how this post may sound a lil stoopid... but i don't care.

According to the us versions, what was the best FF you guys liked? Mystic Quest? II? II? VII? VIII? You tell me and why. Tell me which one had the best story line. Personally, FFII will always be my fav w\ FFIII rideing very close behind. I know the graphics weren't to die for but there's something about those two games that attract me to them everytime i view the carttridge.

Hehe... ok, i sound a lil obsessed but i don't care. Post your replies!

I'm not into gaming anymore but I have to say It's FF III. No doubt, that was the most freefall FF. There was very little restriction to what order the quest was to be done, a lot more charachters to choose from, little restriction on who used what, and the magic format was better. All around the best.

7 was the best...no contest. I worshipped FF7. When 8 came out I hated it and 9 sounds really cool because it combines some of 7 and some of 8. But 7 was the absolute greatest game. The graphics weren't the best but the characters were better than any other and the story line was my absolute favorite.

No way, I beat FF7 four times, did every imaginable thing and even beat the ruby and emerald weapons. There is still no contest between 3 exept maybe the graphics. 7 was just too short of a game

I beat it 3 times and agree it's too short but I think the plot and character development was by far the best. I loved that one

umm..

Have you people, the ones who are responding to this, played all of the final fantasies through their entirety?

If not then don't respond to this thread... Because you don't know what final fantasy is the best.

I've played mystic quest, legends, VII and VIII...
Therefore I can not honestly say what final fantasy is the best...

What can make it the best is not graphics, nor sounds...
It's the story.
Give me a game where you have a totally envolving storyline, one where you MUST play the game until you beat it to find out what happens, a game where you MUST go without sleep to see what happens.

And that's the best.

the only one I haven't played through is mystic quest. I could never get the game. I went through part 2 up until the end until my dresser fell on the console and completely destroyed it and the game. So basically I know what I'm talking about.

I'd have to say FF3 it had the best storyline, and you have to admit, the opera scene was one of the best in the final fantasy storyline, right next to where Sephroth kills Aries in FF7, and next for those of you that have actually played it, Final Fantasy Adventure for Gameboy, this is actually part of the secret of mana series but it's still a great game for when it came out.

Finally, at least someone agrees with me. . . . .

Your right, that sephiroth scene was f-cking awsome, right up there I'd say.

also..about mystic quest, this game shouldnt even count here, it's in introductory rpg for what seems like grade school kids, I havent scene a game that ties you to what they want you to do, more then this one does, you have almost no free will here, other then to reach forward and turn the system off.

I'm sure this is a bit off the subject, but Xenogears (even with it's poorly done second disc) is far more engrossing than any Final Fantasy game. The story is incredible, I haven't played too many games where I don't mind not seeing any action for over an hour. Most books aren't as good a the story in Xenogears...rant...rant...rant...trails off....

By the way Final Fantasy Legend 1-3 are really Saga Frontier games.

Even though i'm not much of an FF afficionado, i'm going to give my vote to 8.

Having played FF1, FF2, FF3, FF7, FF8, FFTactics, and FFMystic Quest, I will say with no restriction or reservations that FF7 is by far better than all the rest combined. I will go farther to say that FF7 is better than any video game in existence, and the story is better than all but a tiny handful of movies in existence. No game, except possibly Chrono Trigger, has ever approached FF7's glorious status. No one has equalled the art (not the level of graphics, but how effectively the graphics are implemented), the characters, the music, the challenges, the battles, the story, the plot, the magic system, or any other factor of the game.

I like FFT (final fantasy tactics) the best. In that, I like the wizard types, and the chocabo (love the chocabo!) If I have to pick from a real adventure game, I like FF7-9, and my favorite character is Vince.

I have to agree entirely with Dark Messiah. I have played every FF game and 7 is the best. It's the greatest game period. Ever. Nothing better. The plot was by far the best. None of them come close. The characters from 7 were my favorite and everything about the game is just amazing. I felt connected to that game. I cried when Aeris died. Seriously bawled. FF7 is the best game of all Final Fantasies...and ever.
