Recently saw 'Japanese Story', an Aussie movie with Toni Collet. Starts a bit slowly but then WHAM! It was pretty haunting, in that 'Picnic at Hanging Rock' kinda way.

Ahhh 'Battle Royale' the 10th greatest movie ever made. IMO.

I completely hated "Van Helsing". I was really looking forward to it, too. What a let down. I give it a 2 out of ten.

Recently I have seen "White Chicks". I enjoyed it more than "Van Helsing", but its still not an award winning type of movie. It was pretty funny in some spots, and the general story line was pretty funny. I would probably give it a 7 1/2 out of 10.

I caught "Altered States" on cable last night.
Some of the special effects were a bit cheesy at 15 years but still a great movie.

ghost watcher, for a jumpy sort of scare, dawn of the dead, i was suprised i enjoyed it, and jacobs ladder, i know it's old, but i hadn't seen it...ooh, and for gory comic relief, the hazing...the smart blond plays a bimbo to get a guy, the brunette is the typical bitch, one cute guy with a lot of repressed anger...and a spirit doorway.

I bought the Texas Chainsaw Massacre a couple of weeks back.I don't know why i did'int earlier, seeing is how this movie is the only movie that gives me even a little chill if any. But I still see it as a beautifully orchestrated piece of cinematography.
Browsing through the script excerpts, and watching the deleted scenes was alone worth the 14 bucks, which should have been 30 bucks. But I guess the more older the movie gets the less the price is.No problem here! My favorite deleted scene was of Leather applying makeup to the "pretty woman" face he was wearing right before the infamous dinner.

On Saturday night,Digital Cable struck oil when they aired Gremlins, and Gremlins 2:The New batch, back to back. The original Gremlins is the perfect christmas movie, I always manage to catch it on tv every holiday season. The sequel is incredibly goofy, but at least it had the original cast intact!I just don't take it seriously, and have fun with that movie.

I also managed to see "Waxwork" starring Zach Galligan (from Gremlins). This movie was made in '88,and it has to this day,the best movie werewolf I've seen since "The Howling".Also an 80's flick.Awesome movie,I would reccomend it for rental.

monster island with carmen electra, for good, stupid fun...and they used the traditional puppet animation for the monsters...my hubby was impressed with that in this cgi world.

Well,MOST of the original cast. What, with beverly hills cop,and Ruthless people, I'd say he was too darn busy for a gremlins rehatch.
On another note, "Monster Island" with carmen electra was funny, and entertaining.I think I saw it about four times when it first aired on MTV.

I saw The Machinist on Friday. New movie starring Christian Bale; I'm sure horror fans and Fangoria readers have heard about it. I really, really like it; granted, the concept - in its broadest sense - has been done before, but it's a totally cool spin on the concept.

It was very dark and disturbing; even in daylight, Brad Anderson shot it in such a way that it STILL looks dark. Bale's 63-pound weight loss for the film makes him look absolutely vile. In one particular shot, you can literally see his entire ribcage, shoulder blades, hip bones... everything. Total skeleton. If you're wondering how he did it, he went on a strict diet of salads, apples, cigarettes, and fat-free latté. Maybe I should try that out; a 26-inch waist would be fun.

It's not being released nationwide (it's mostly being shown at indie theaters), so check yer listings.
