Retro-Genetocs

The Ideal goal of Genetic engineering is the development of a form of Retro-Genetice, that is a method of altering the genes of an individual to a certain effect rather than engineering the genes from scratch (cloning etc.)

If it were possible to get an injection that would make you taller, lose weight, stay young etc. would you want it?

Is there anything wrong with genetic engineering curing all disease and giving eternal life?

nothing wrong with eternal life as long as we arent also continuing to breed. otherwise it could just be a very nasty form of torture. imagine being immortal but starving forever.

come to think of it the genetic change i'd most like to have would be a sterility jab, something to make sure i'd never have to worry about unwanted sprogs again.

Kids are bad. I never want to have kids. They are spawns of satan and not the good kind either.

Again I repeat... I AM NEVER HAVING KIDS.

Then again this is only my opinion

Words are weapons, and it is dangerous . . . to borrow them from the arsenal of the enemy.
- George Santayana

May the fleas of a thousand camels infest the crotch of the person who fucks up your day and may their arms be too short to scratch.

I like to punch people in the stomach, so don't be a retard.

Friends help you get drunk. Real friends hold your unconscious body over the toilet to keep you from drowning in your own vomit, and write down all the funny things you said as you faded in and out of reality.

No, I don't think I would. Part of what makes life worth dealing with is the challenges, take that away and I think that I would get deathly bored . . .

If people could be immortal they would have no fear of dying...and no fear of anything really, then there would be a lot more criminals and murderers and such...

no good would come of it, the human race would be much more evil than it already is...and lets face it, all people are evil.

We can all recognize the need for death in our ecosystem and our world but once it comes down to it how many of us would refuse the opportunity to sustain our lives or the lives of a loved one given the chance provided the quality of life isn't immediately affected? I suppose after a while one would get weary of eternal life, but I think our natural reflex is to survive by any means necessary. I don't think most people would think of the reprecussions that would occur years later and I doubt that we'd be able to properly predict all of them. Basically, it's much easier for me to theoretically say that I would not take advantage of these "advancements" than it would once I was in a position that might require them even though I believe that death is a necessity.
