aren't emulators and roms illegal (if you don't own the original) plus playing sonic 3 or super mario bros 2 on a pc is just not the same as playing it on the original console. and i'm not just talkin about swapping a pad for a board. the whole thing is different.

Yes they are illegal, the law states that you can have a back up copy, though nintendo states with its gamecube game pamphlets that it is unnecesary, and there for they do prosecute for GC GBA and DS games, but that is about it, Sega prosecutes for any of their systems, and I suspect sony does as well

As for the Wii it will be nice playing old school on a console again, nostalgia and all, what would be really interesting is if they made the two player(or more like on NBA Jam) online playable like the Kailler client, which I could never get to work.

Now for those of you who are questioning the Wiimote, and its ability to play games starting with the SNES and on, fret not, for nintendo made what they call the Classic controller, which essentially looks like an SNES controller, with a few extra buttons, and dual analog sticks. Very nice looking in my opinion. Nintendo is going back to its roots here folks, back when it was King. I think that this is gonna work for the Wii. And it is something that only nintendo can really pull off, because they have been at it for so long, and they have so many classics and now 4 consoles, all of which you can play on the Wii, since it will accept GC disks. Hell you can even play old GB and GBA titles with the Wii cause the DS will communicate with the Wii, and from what I have heard, it will act like the GB player for the GC, allowing you to play DS games on your T.V.

This is why I personally think that Nintendo is gonna reign supreme once more, they are not doing this release half assed, unlike microsoft, in which you have to download updates on the 360 in order to play older xbox titles, which is bullshit, cause first you have to pay the $60 subscription fee for xbox live, then you have to have broadband to connect, and it is highly recommened that you have the hdd for the system to save the updates on, and ultimately you spend nearly $200-$300 just to play your original xbox games on your new system. Nintendo had the opposite philosphy with the Wii, they want that system to have to be updated as little as possible. Yes they will update the software, or GUI or browers periodically(the browser by the way is gonna be Opera) but they are gonna have the system be as ready as possible when they ship it.

Now for those of us in the U.S. the will will be coming out two months earlier, in September. the Europe release date has not been confirmed yet, those speculation suggests end of september early october.

This will be the year of two things: 1: The Year of Superman, as it is the first Superman movie in almost 20 years and 2: It will be the year of Nintendo, because they are gonna regain the console market, they are going to continue to crush the PSP in the handheld market. The have the price ($250 for the console, no more than $50 for games, accesories anywhere for $10 to $30) and they have the history. To date they have lasted longer than any other console manufacturer. They beat Atari, they beat Sega, they beat NEO-GEO they beat Turbografix 16.

Am I a nintendo fan boy? Kinda, I mean the first console I remember playing was a nintendo, when they first came out in '87 or '88 I can't remember which. I was really young. So the system has a special place in my heart. Its what got me started as a gamer. I do play other systems, but Microsoft and Sony games have pretty much become graphics extraveganzas, with only 10-15 hours of gameplay at most, and that just doesn't appeal to me. I would rather play Final Fantasy VII with its crappy graphics, but long play time, than Final Fantasy X with its good graphics, but relativly short play time.

Close..... what he was talking about is the gyroscopic tech being used for the new PS3 controller, which is somewhat limiting, which in that case could get messed up by vibrations, or jostling around. The Wiimote on the other hand uses an RF media bar placed infront of your T.V. which senses the up/down left/right in/out and tilt for left/right. Now yes the two controllers do achieve the same effect, but, I think sony is still a theif because they took the idea from Nintendo, and now appearently from Pelican. I still think that the motion sensening PS3 controller is more of an afterthought on Sony's behalf than anything else, cause you didn't hear shit about it till Nintendo revealed their controller

Ya know, given what Nintendo is doing now, it wouldn't be that far of a stretch for them to make a boxing game with boxing gloves. I have seen ones similar in Arcades, and they are pretty fucking wicked

I think it would be neat to bring actual tools like gloves, guns and anything that are normally in video games and use them as controllers. For example in Final Fantasy use a sword or whatever.

and also because they couldnt get the bluetooth thing to work (so i hear) and also the fact that everyone hated the batarang controller.

i played a game in an arcade a lil while back, a samurai game, where you use a sword with motion sensors and stuff inside it to slice up people. think it was a namco or sega one. can't remember. but that rocked
