What's up with 2 day hangovers
The other weekend we went to the pub for "1 or 2", met some random folk, ended up going back to their apartment for snowy and herbal delights and more drinking. Got home at 4am, fed cats, passed out. I had a raging hangover the next day. Then a raging hangover the day after that.
Firstly, I haven't binged out like that in a long time. I forgot how much fun it is.
Secondly, my memories of partying that hard do not include feeling like warmed up dog shit for 2 straight days.
I remember working the 11-7am shift in Alaska, at the bar by 8am, drink until 4pm, sleep a couple hours, go back to work, and everything was FINE!
I think I'm getting old. Ah well, at least I can recreate my lost youth by reading DF.

it's definitely age. I've also found that my hangovers are particularly worse with beer. I can have a half pint of whiskey and feel a little bleh the next day but generally OK. Meanwhile 3 IPAs makes me regret the discovery of fermentation. I've stopped drinking the stuff entirely. Switch to liquor and water, less calories and you hydrate while you drink!

If you don't throw up, piss your pants, and get a wicked hangover then you're doing it wrong.

I mixed my alcohol. I already have the tolerance of a small child.
I should probs stick to grape juice.

You're probably drinking badly made IPAs. I mean half the reason people are so fond of dousing their shit in hops nowadays is that it covers up the taste of impurities and defects in the beer.

Like presumably people know this but it's not the alcohol itself that causes the hangover, it's your liver filtering out all the impurities that come with it, and usually causing dehydration along the way. Higher quality and purer alcohols will reduce the effects. Distilled spirits tend to be better for this, unless it's absolute bottom-shelf bathtub vodka or whatever, because they're, y'know, distilled.

Mothafuckah don't look down from your tower and assume I'm drinking swill. I've got a discerning palate. And it isn't just IPAs, it's pretty much all beer. I'm happy sticking to Jameson (until Summer, at least).

Ffs, DM. How do you manage to make it through every day without someone beating the shit out of you? A genuine question.

I prefer Heineken, even though I know it is, in fact, disgusting swill.
It brings back weird sense memories of my youth. My grandparents had the Arkansas river running alongside their property, when I was a kid I would play in it, my grandpa would stand on the bank and smoke cigarettes and drink Busch Lights, then toss the cans in the river (like ya did). I would often retrieve the cans and drink river water out of them (like ya did). Which, with the slight hint of beer, taste exactly like a Heineken does to me today.
And that is a trip down memory lane with ya b0y, thefr0g.

Man wut, the cost is the main knock against Jameson. Like it'd be fine if it were costed at the $25 a handle range like it tastes like. If I'm going to spend fucking $40 I want something that's a step up from Evan Williams or the fucking Kirkland house brand.

I've become something of a beer snob. Or beer douche, if you will. I was in Munich and tried this beer made in a monastery, and I basically came in my pants. Then I started trying the craft beer scene, which was hit and miss. And then milk stouts, which were sploosh. And so on.
I went back to SC recently and ordered a PBR. Go figure.

To be fair, I've only recently started drinking Whiskey. I've always had kind of an opposite-nostalgia effect with it. But I've tried a few brands and Jameson strikes the balance between price and quality for me.
