I'm getting a PS3...

I don't need the backwards compatibility with older games, so never mind that.

I just need to know which to get, the 80 or 160.

The 160 Gigabyte is due out later this month/next month. It comes with a $10 pain coupon or whatever, Uncharted Drake's Fortune and dualshock controller.
(is the sixaxis strictly better?)
I mainly just play FPS games, and online; I don't care much for campaign mode unless it's uber good (even then I don't care much for it).
So what's the best online games?!
On my list so far is:
Resistance (the first, I don't have money to dish on the second)
CoD4 (maybe 5 when I get the funds)
Assassin's Creed (I heard it was good, but lame... your opinion?)
Warhawk (greatest hits, but is it any good, I don't know, renting first)

So what system would be best? I hear that the 80GB might not last that long, and I'll wish I paid the $100 more for 80 more gigs. However I plan to just be playing allot of online play, online surfing (looking at getting the keyboard too) and chatting. So I think I can just get the 80gig for $400, plus spend 30 Resistance, a headset ($30? can you recommend a good one?) and the keyboard further down the road.
So for 500 (the price of the bundle package mentioned above) I can get exactly what I want, but I lose 80 gigs.

Opinions?

The Dualshock 3 is the sixaxis, but with the rumble option. Sixaxis is outdated and old and gone.

I have an 80, and if you're getting online, you'll want to download demos. Alot of them. So you'll need more space for that. And you can download full games from the network, so you'll need HDD space for that. And since you can stream and copy music and video files to it, you'll want to do that. HDD space to copy over. Perhaps even you'll buy some kind of TV recording add-on for it, and you'll need HDD space for that. It runs out sooner than you think.

I'd say get the 160 if you can. It's worth it.

You'll want Drake's Fortune. It's the absolute mutt's nutts. No Tomb Raider or Indiana Jones style adventure and puzzle game will ever beat it. Ever.

Don't bother with Warhawk. It's a crock of shit. Seriously. If you're desperate, PSN have a demo.

Assassin's creed, you'll play for a bit then get bored with it. The world and graphics are awesome, the free running style movement and climbing up buildings is great fun, but after that it kinda falls apart. Most people get pissed off with it, and bored of it and trade it. Some people come back in and say "I wanna play it again" and buy a pre-owned, but mostly they only do once and bring it back.

I'd say, get a 160, download every demo you can, then go choose your games.

But when you get it, buy COD4, Resistance, Uncharted : Drake's Fortune and Vegas 2.

As for headsets, The new SOCOM comes with one for free. You can use pretty much any USB or Bluetooth headset with it. I have a Microsoft Lifechat uber headset, and that works perfectly.

If you want the camera integration within games, you'll need the PS3 Playstation Eye. For Video chat, you can use most USB webcams, and it'll even use the ones with integrated microphones.

For keyboards, there are some which do have 'PS3 compatible' stamp.
Unless you are planning to put Linux on your PS3, I wouldn't bother buying one. If you wanna chat with people, use the on-screen board to tell them to use the voice/video chat.

The one accessory I will say to buy, is a Powered USB hub. The PS3 just doesn't have enough USB ports.

Seriously. Save up the extra money and wait a bit longer. You won't regret it.

That is what I have. It says, Sixaxis, on the back of the controller. It rocks I bought 3 more for fun. You will also want to buy a recharge cradle, they are key.

I would say a Blu-ray remote was more important than a cradle. You get a USB cable to recharge the handsets with anyway, and the cradles are more of a fancy thing than a necessity.

I have to keep reading Tozzy's post over and over. I was set on getting a 80gb, but that most was just so enlightening.

Also, for the $500 price tag I get the 160gb, plus the game (which is really really good I guess?) plus the Pain thing which I don't care about.

So yeah... still reading,

Pain is actually quite fun. Don't knock it til you've tried it.

Save your coin, get a 160.

I was set on getting the $500 version, until I took this into account:

It's a good deal, with a ?great? game, but I also plan on buying:
Resistance $30ish (for the first)

Headset $40-50 (getting it with the SOCOM)

Possible keyboard down the road for chatting and surfing $40 on ebay, $70 in store.

Webcam $40ish For better online gaming

at the cheapest, I'm lookin at $150 more, if I got the 80, I'd be getting it all for $550, instead of $650.

So unless tozzy can convince me I don't need the keyboard or webcam, I could get the two games for $70 plus tax, which wouldn't be too shabby.

You have a computer to surf the internet.

The internet looks shit and 90% of the text is unreadable on a HDTV so far as i've seen.

Forget the keyboard.

You can use any old webcam for chat, but the ps3 eye for in game stuff. It's not mandatory, just PLAY the game, and get that later.

Get the 160.

I'm picking it up at Game Crazy for the fallowing deal:

Sony Ps3 with free game ($400).
Sony ps2 trade in deal $100 credit towards a ps3.
(Includes trading in the System, 4 games, remote and sony memory card.)(that's a terrible price for a trade in, but my ps2 is dying, and I don't play it anymore.)
I also plan on getting Assassin's Creed for $10 (on sale [probably used]), and Resistance/Call of Duty 4 at the same time for either $20-$30 each (only one of those two though. I'm a slow gamer and those two will take me plenty of time to beat).

I was going to get the 160gb, but I honestly don't think I'll need it. And if I do, I'll have to dish out the extra cash later for it.

So for $300 (plus tax) I'm getting:
Playstation 3 with remote and game (Drake's Fortune).
The two games I'm getting will equal about $40, roughly $19.98 each.

This leaves me enough money left over to buy a head set, plus whatever else catches my fancy in the coming weeks.

Well, your decision.

Just realise when you upgrade in the future, you'll have to dish out not only the extra cash that you would have to now, but when you trade in your 80G you will get much less than you paid for it and have to make up that part of the price in cash too. So you'll pay at least $50 more on top of what you'd have to spend now.

Resistance 2 is amazing!
