Hall of Famer Erving Unhappy With Release of Sex Tape

NEW YORK (Jan. 26) -- Julius Erving's spokesman said it was "disappointing" that a tape was released showing the NBA Hall of Famer having sex with a woman.

The tape was delivered to the New York Post while Erving is in the midst of a divorce from his wife of 31 years, Turquoise.

"This is a tape that was made 15 years ago, while Julius and his wife were separated," spokesman Dan Klores said Monday. "The decision by his wife's advisers to release it during their divorce negotiations is disappointing, especially since Mrs. Erving has had it in her possession for all these years."

The tape shows the 53-year-old Erving having sex with a young woman in a hotel room while a radio plays, the newspaper said.

"The media is always going to be a part of my life as long as I'm breathing and even after I'm gone," Erving said before the Philadelphia Sports Writers Association's 100th annual banquet where he was an honored guest Monday night. "I'm not stressed about it."

The divorce case is proceeding in Florida.

Why did she have possession of it?

I'm not sure... maybe he didn't know about it. Maybe it was made by an investigator or something. I would think if he had known about it that it would have been destroyed. It just sucks that it had to come out in the divorce like that.

why'd he video tape it?

The tape was apparently shot several years ago. It shows Erving — who went to the NBA finals four times and led the Philadelphia 76ers to a title — in a hotel room wearing a sleeveless undershirt, boxers and metal-framed glasses. The Afro of his early years is gone, and the gray of his later years has yet to arrive.

His co-star is a voluptuous, dark-haired young woman with cinnamon skin wearing a negligee. A radio in the background is playing "Sea of Love" by the Honeydrippers as Erving adjusts the camera. The couple sips white wine and chats inaudibly before the kissing begins and they get naked.

The two unhurriedly run through several positions, including a Kama Sutra-like contortion. At one point on the radio, an early morning weather report of fog is announced for San Jose, Santa Cruz and Monterey. link

apparently her lawyer denies it came from them, but she has had possesion of it all these years (15).
