There's no difference over here, you vote or you don't. Vote dem, rep, independent, doesn't matter, the same corrupt idiots win.
Fancy that less than 50% of people vote... shouldn't nobody get elected? Bismarck once said "Fools say they like to learn from their experiences, but I prefer to learn from the experience of others."

To vote or not to vote. Im not too fond of the political parties in this country so maybe when I emigrate I will vote. A golden energy
Was rising out of my head
I shed my evil skin
And found myself again I was wrong, I don't mind
The impossible seems possible
This time I'm an electric wire
If the sun can radiate then so can I

i painstakingly bore a Ted Razcka sign and passed out fliers all day in Durham yesterday.. now if you know anyting about Durham and CTs politics youd know that being a democrat or black there is like being in the belly of the beast. We still lost, but at least we didnt lose by a ton like we anticipated... and hopefully after the pro business repub fuckwads fuck this country up in the next 2 years people will come to thier senses and never make that mistake again.

I've heard that this hasn't happened in 50 years... the last time; was that before, during, or after McArthy's reign of terror? Bismarck once said "Fools say they like to learn from their experiences, but I prefer to learn from the experience of others."

What scares me the most is all of the news and Republican officials saying that Bush is now "free to pursue his agenda."
Basically, anything the Repubs want to pass, they can. It's an oligarchy; the Republican party is in power.
(Oh, and the only thing I wanted to happen in the election was for as close to a stalemate as possible to happen; and I'm too fed up with the system to vote; there isn't a "change the government" option ). Bismarck once said "Fools say they like to learn from their experiences, but I prefer to learn from the experience of others."

It's not an ogliarchy. The people were elected. When people talk of the freedom of writing, speaking or thinking I cannot choose but laugh. No such thing ever existed. No such thing now exists; but I hope it will exist. But it must be hundreds of years after you and I shall write and speak no more.

By as little as 49% of the voting population in some cases.
I'm just saying the system's bunk. Bismarck once said "Fools say they like to learn from their experiences, but I prefer to learn from the experience of others."

Some people just don't vote. I have two friends that didn't vote, one because he was registered at a booth really far away, the other because he was working. That's their choice. It's hardly the fault of the people in office. When people talk of the freedom of writing, speaking or thinking I cannot choose but laugh. No such thing ever existed. No such thing now exists; but I hope it will exist. But it must be hundreds of years after you and I shall write and speak no more.

But, isn't the goal of democracy for the people to choose, not the ones that vote choose? Also, should 51%, or even 49% be enough to elect someone? Bismarck once said "Fools say they like to learn from their experiences, but I prefer to learn from the experience of others."

The piont of Democracy is that those who want to voice their opinions can do so (although we actually have a Democratic-Republic, not a straight-out Democracy). Those who do not vote abstain by default. Abstensions are traditionally not tallied at all in votes. So if 50% of the population votes and 80% of thsoe that vote vote for a certain cantidate, that cantidate has 80% of the votes, not 40%. When people talk of the freedom of writing, speaking or thinking I cannot choose but laugh. No such thing ever existed. No such thing now exists; but I hope it will exist. But it must be hundreds of years after you and I shall write and speak no more.

The elections went fairly well. Enough so that we can undo the Brady Bill and other gun control laws passed by the communist Clinton Administration. In the meantime screwing the economy. I wonder, are you pro-Republican, or just anti-Democrat? Is it just a "lesser of two evils" thing? Bismarck once said "Fools say they like to learn from their experiences, but I prefer to learn from the experience of others."
