And as for now, well, 9/11. Although the argument "We didn't do it before" is never really a valid reason to not do something. "Sure, women/blacks/people under 21 can't vote, but we didn't let them vote before! Why now?" and so on, as an example. | That's a rather spurious argument.
The change before is that those people deserved the vote. this was to undo a social wrong. It was done as soon as the possibility arose to do this. Hussein could have been removed back in 1991 yet wasn't. Why suddenly act upon it now. 8 years of Clintons administration didn't see a need for it?

Some pleasure for our punishment..."

First of all, if you think giving women/minorities the vote was done at the earliest possible oppurtunity, you're damned ignorant. It was done when people felt like doing it and no earlier. Explain to me the laws of physics that stopped women's voting rights from being a possibility in 1837. Secondly, yes, it was to undo a social wrong. It's a social wrong that people in Iraq can't vote, so why not undo that to? It's not a spurious argument at all. When people talk of the freedom of writing, speaking or thinking I cannot choose but laugh. No such thing ever existed. No such thing now exists; but I hope it will exist. But it must be hundreds of years after you and I shall write and speak no more.

When we were on good terms with iraq before they started to try and fuck us over we sent them samples of certain viruses and such so they could develope cures and to test with them. They were all of course sent by the CDC in the US to many Universities in Iraq... how were we to know Saddam was just using the Universities as cover to get bio warfare agents? Regardless of your childish finger pointing Saddam DOES have Weapons he DID hide form us and he DID provoke the US in such a way that now its his ass, not ours. If he was such a loving "President" and cared so much for his people and didnt want them to die he would resign his dicta.....presidency to another Iraqi Leader.

Have I ever once defended Saddam Hussein as a "leader"? No. If I woke up tomorrow and we didn't exist, there couldn't be a happier person in the world. However, a United States unilateral action against Iraq will have horrible consequences in the world, is my hypothesis. I believe that assassinating him will create stability, repair SOME relations with Iran and secure just a tiny fragment more of american security, or at least make us sleep easier and when it comes down to it thats what counts. Because if there is a Nuclear blast either youre going to die from it or youll be fine. So sleeping is what were all worried aobut ehre ina m manner of speech.

Just a note.. a few hours before this post, Bushy Boy went on national TV to push the bush war... He's upped the anti folks...
and tommorrow we'll see the political reaction from around the world... A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, con a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly.

As to physical reasoning you're right you'll find none. As to the factors you'll find many. All of which are social in nature. My argument is simply that you can't drop that sort of radical social change overnight. You have to prepare people for it. How would the average world citizen react if tommorow the automobile were unilaterally banned? There are more factors involved.
My argument is also based on other concerns such as why does Bush want to go to war now, there is surely more concern with enduring freedom then anything else, or even why didn't he make it part of his political manifesto? Why suddenly. Husseins annoyance tactics are not new.

Good luck finding it; I went to a two year public college early-entry program the last two years; parents didn't pay a cent; if they had needed to, I wouldn't have been able to go. What the fuck does anything have to do with "loving" Saddam Hussein?
If he died in his sleep tonight, great. If an Iraqi assassinated him, I wouldn't applaud the action for what it is, but it'd be nice to see Hussein gone. Hell, I don't even mind too terribly much if a CIA agent took him out.
I draw the line at outright warfare and/or setting up a puppet government. Bismarck once said "Fools say they like to learn from their experiences, but I prefer to learn from the experience of others."
