Well, I practiced Paganism as opposed to Wicca, so I probably don't have all the facts, but...
I find Wicca and Paganism to have alot of simalarities. The feel behind the faith is the same. (Note: Use of the word faith, as I despise the word religion.) The only problem I do have with Wicca is the belief that if you don't like it, make up your own. Which, tends to make me a tad wary in the first place.
However one of the main points behind Wicca and most faiths is to treat everyone with respect and try to do your best to love everyone.
And personally, I don't care what god you choose. If it helps you learn to do that, then that faith is a good one.
The biggest thing that anger's me is ignorance. People that declare that Wiccan's are baby killers and sacrifice children. It makes me want to smack them with the stupid stick. I hate people that try to change things based on their own preconcieved notions rather then going out and actually doing some damn research.
Also, it doesn't really have anything to do with Goth people. It's a faith. It's something people believe to fulfill their spirituality. The faith make up of the goth society is just as diverse as everyone else's. It can seem that every goth you meet is Wiccan, but there are other's who seem to meet only satanists goths.
But, that's not what all goth's are. You have buddhist goths, pagan goths, jewish goths, islamic goths, and yes, even christian goths. The culture isn't restricted to one faith.

I would say that yes wicca does revolve somewhat around "gothics" a lot more. Wicca being an unrecongnized religion for so long is not the average religion that can be accepted by just anybody and everybody. In actuality wicca is usually put into the same context as witch craft and black magic due to the inacuracy of the people who publish it. I would say that gothics are drawn to it becuase it is an extrodinary religion that has just recently been shed light on and it is because of this taboo that surrounds it that gothics are drawn into it. You cant say that in reality it revolves around them, but I can say that it has been more publicized/famed becuase of the gothic crowd.

If wiccans are so upset about everyone calling them devil worshipers then why don't they stop calling themselves witches??? Look at the modern definition of a witch in any dictionary and it will mention something about the black arts. If wiccan's are nature based and don't do anything bad, then why would they call themselves witches???

Potatoes are yummy | The term witch was only give a negative connotation when the Christians came about with their attempts to "convert the heathens" to Christianity. The whole association of witches with the devil is nothing more than propaganda, which is what your so-called modern definition is based upon. ***********************************

There's a lot of stereotypes mixing people up here. And as often as you try to tell some people, they'll never understand that Wiccans and Goths aren't nessesarily Devil-worshippers, and that being Goth doesn't make you Wiccan or vice versa.

Wicca is undoubtedly a new religion. Does anyone disagree with that?????
If so, then you need to read up on it before you open your mouth.
No offense to anyone, but what the majority of the people in the word think a word means, is what the word means. And I'm sorry, but a majority think that a witch is involved with black magick. I'm not saying witches worship the devil. I'm just saying that maybe Wiccans should consider dropping the title of witch if they want to be left alone.

Of course the Swatzika was a symbol for peace until the Nazis started using it, but I seriously doubt you'd go around wearing one in broad public anyway. When people talk of the freedom of writing, speaking or thinking I cannot choose but laugh. No such thing ever existed. No such thing now exists; but I hope it will exist. But it must be hundreds of years after you and I shall write and speak no more.

Wiccans are mostly a mix of many older religions. It is a 'Neo-Faith' in a way. Its very new, of itself, even if its ideals are old. - http://the_jade_tiger.tripod.com/main.html

As opposed to a later request on Wicca not being a real religion. You were wrong. And also it being a "new" religion. You too were wrong. Wicca has been around for centuries. It's just recently beginning to come into public eyes. And that's why everyone things it's "Satan" and all this other bullshit. Yes, Wicca is based on old religions. But it also is an old religion. Nature based. Pre-christian religion. That's right, before it was the devil, it was "christian". Weather you believe the spells and rituals work or not, they do. I've been praciticing for 10 years. I don't care what other people say. I don't wear all black, worship satan, drink christian children's blood, and give my body to Satan every night. I don't hardly even mention satan. I do believe he is real, just not by that name. And I don't believe in just one god, there has to be many. How could one spirit keep everything in balance? I don't think so. There has to be more up there fucking around with us. I do bide by karma, I don't want to get hit by a truck from telling some taxi cab driver "fuck you asshole," for rubbing on my leg and trying to rape me while I spray pepper spray in his face. Oh well. Just my views.

Work is of two kinds: first, altering the position of matter at or near the earth's surface relatively to other such matter; second, telling other people to do so.

Wicca is a term used to describe a group of people. period. It's like saying, hi, i'm christian. There is not just a christian, there are Mormans, Southern Babs, Catholic...ect...
And no, i know alot more "wicca" that are happy go lucky smilie faced boobs than Goths. Recently they have started comming out with books on how to practice wicca, and yes, those are new, and have evolved into a new religion. But originally it was just a label. No, i'm not wicca. and i hate being associated with them. But there is no real term out there for what i do... Go scriosa maorlathaí míthrócaireach do dhiosca crua.

LOL that was cute.
Now. My opinion of wicca. Humans feel the need to label everything. Without labels the mind could not function. A person could say that they believe in "God", we automatically assume they are Christian and base generalizations on them without even thinking about it. Same goes for anyone who believes in the Goddess.. Christians will think "Satanist".. Many others will think "Wiccan" and will apply generalizations accordingly.
MY point is... "Wicca" is just a label, not a religion. There is no structure to it what so ever. I have never met two "Wiccans" ( i use that term loosly) who have the same beliefs.. but many will answer "Wiccan" to the question "What are you?". This seems to be the easiest way to explain what they are to others instead of making an essay form to explain their actual beliefs. If they were to do that (put it in essay form to fully explain). . the person who asked what they were would just ask them if they are Wiccan after anyway. It saves time, period.
You could EASILY apply this to Goths... Many "Goths" (again another term used loosely) do not consider themselves to be Goth but when asked if they are a goth will usually just say "yes" instead of making a big story as to why they aren't goth. again it saves time. When you explain yourself over and over again to people with the same questions time after time it gets redundant. The short answer is easier but not always the best.. but it works.
This is an opinion... don't go off on me about it, it will be a waste of time on your part.
edit--- didn't know html was turned off in this forum.

unfortunatly you do have a point all magicks have been generalized and lumped into one mixed up mass...however there is a distinct difference between wicca and other earth based religions...wicca tends to have laws and redes, a high priest and priestess, group worship, and specific deities that should be worshipped, a social hierarchy to it...most earth based pagan have none of the organization... Sure the real wiccan(man...I just used real and wiccan in the same sentance) groups do.Majority of the rest just take the name from reading a few books on it and do their own thing. Work is of two kinds: first, altering the position of matter at or near the earth's surface relatively to other such matter; second, telling other people to do so.

WIcca is an odd phenomina, int aht it seems to be a hodge-potch amaglam of lots of verious pagan or pre-christian belief ethics, new age gainistic principles and a sprinkling of white and folk magic too.

That wishing and the crime were one
And heaven punishes desires
As much as if the deed were done.

Are damned to all our hearts content.
Come then we may at least enjoy
Some pleasure for our punishment..."
