Never mind that, what makes it a good religion? What defines "good" in a religion?

hmmm.... good point... I would consider my previous statement stupid with the question that followed

I suppose I would consider a religion good if it is well suited to the self.

which means

that no religion is good for ME!

:p

Correct, but what would people want from a religion? Remembering that a "religion" does not imply an organisation, or even anything besides the basic faith. I know the common answers to this question are "a sense of safety" and "a sense of belonging." Do people actually consciously look for a religion that gives them that? Surely knowing the reasons for what you believe in defy the point of belief?

Well since I can't find a religion that fits my perfectly, I have taken 2 religions and basically put the beliefs together that I want and left the ones I don't. Thus making what I believe in. I don't really care if it's considered "right" its what I believe in and no one can take that from me

This is one of the reasons I have not embraced any religion as my religion.

It is limiting, and must be by it's very existance. Perhaps the reason why I believe that Wicca is a good religion, is because to me, it is the least limiting of any religion, except perhaps Taoism.

No offence, but your faith is then incredibly contrived. Like Mormonism or the "Let's start a cult" thread, it's like you sat down one day and worked it all out. Can you really feel sure that you "believe" - and I mean really believe, with all your heart, etc. so that you'd never have any missgivings about following your path exactly - in something like that?

Do you think you have made it up, just combining the two, like you said, or do you think that you have used a Platonic kind of "inner voyage of discovery" (cliche!) to work out the Truth using your human logical functions? Do you care about the Truth at all? What do you use your faith for?

What is the point of faith?

Faith is to guide you through life. I don't believe it's a cult, I don't draw people to it. It's only what I believe, in a way I guess it's sort of my own religion but not really. I believe in a lot of different things like in christianity I could never believe in the laws against homosexuality causing me alot to divert from there. But I still believe in God but I also believe theres a female counterpart, then taking from wiccan along with the earth and animals. I can't fully belong to either or because I feel I'm missing something if I do and that would just contridict my beliefs if I did.

My beliefs lead me through life. To me it gives everything a reason a purpose almost. I'm not a church groupie and I don't tell people to believe what I believe. Maybe I'm just a messed up youth but my beliefs are what they are. I can't settle into one or the other set place. It just does not work for me.

Your beliefs give you purpose. What is your purpose? To add to the numbers in Heaven?

I believe that we should live full lives and make the best of them and then we're reincarnated to fix problems from your past life. Some people can't remember but thats why they live life and discover them through different ways. Also I do believe theres an after life but thats only for those who have lived really good lives many times and can be at peace.

Being content with yourself allows you to no longer focus on yourself, it gives you a chance to help others around you and around the world. Not making them robots but helping them have what they need. Support, comfort, love, knowledge etc. People like you and me have alot of what we need, therse others that don't.

So your purpose and the purpose of your faith is to create a world in which nobody has insufficient for their needs. Very admirable. What would that do to the Universe though... it's resources etc. If everyone had everything they need. Your faith is very people oriented - very different from so-called Earth-religions. I wonder what their purposes is.
