that god did not make me happy, i was angry with the world and myself for not ever being good enough to live by the bible's standards, his representatives could never answer my questions...or made me ashamed for thinking natural thoughts and curiousities...making me say five hail mary's for questioning god...

i could never find peace following that path...to much hatred and cruelty perpetrated by what is supposed to be a benelovent beign...that's not a god i created.

i respect your own beliefs for they are your own, duke, however i have some problems with some of the things you have said here. my goddess offers a different salvation, a way to improve myself by learning through reincarnation. just because your god offers salvation doesn't mean that is the 'one true way'.

the other things i don't like about christianity is how it has treated wonderfully wise and kind healers (witches) throughout it's history. as a pagan, i find it highly offensive to be treated with such blatant disrespect and sometimes even brutality. second, the bible condemns homosexuality. queers have existed since before christianity and no one told us that we were going to hell then, so wtf? homosexuality is not a choice, its a genetic defect carried by a male's sperm dna. its a perfectly natural thing and has existed ever since there have been humans. who knows, it may have even been a evolutionary tactic to cut down on the population.

We are in the image of God, and we have many of the emotions of God, but not to the same degree. God can be quite wrathful, but it always has great reason (unlike us) that we as simple human beings can not understand.

He flooded the planet because it was essentially destorying itself. He did it to take it out of his misery in the same way someone might shoot a dog that was dying/suffering. Most non-Christians tend to be Evolutionists so I ask this question. Is it more wretched to just wipe all of life just once and try again of the sake of purity, or have several periods of mass excintinction as evolution claims. Evolution is violent, vengeful monster, not God. Survival of the fittest and all that. A loving God would never allow that.

It seems all of you have put your faith in unforgiving, unloving god.

My God is a loving, forgiving being that is very good to look up to...

That's a rather odd argument, i feel. Evolution isn't a monster, it is a natural process. It is not intelligent, so it cannot be motivated by any emotions. Whilst your God is supposed to be a loving being, yet throughout the Bible engages in mass murder and barbaric acts of injustice. The very fact that Evolution is happening somewhat undermines your argument that God would not allow it to take place. It still boils down to your God being an expanded version of a human being, with all the dangerous flaws we have magnified to the nth degree and empowered to a ludicrous level. Never a good role model.

but we had that discussion....twice......and I am still waiting for you to provide me with factual PROOF that evolution occurs. The THEORY of evolution is still just that. You continue to espouse that it is an accepted fact, but offer no proof to support your claims.

i believe evolution was acurate to a point, but than there was some kind of intervention, but i don't think it was divine, i still like my survivors from atlantis theory...i believe the sumerians have an alien concept...so there is more out there than evolution is absolute, or evolution is not...

What kind of proof do you require? Evolution is a broad definition, almost as broad as religion. Trying to prove that religion exists would be just as difficult. Trying to prove that christianity exists is a lot easier...

Try and narrow your parameters a little.

I was looking for factual evidence, the theory was being pushed as an accepted fact and statements to that effect were made, but no supporting evidence was given. I wanted to see facts that could not be rebutted. I supported why I held my side of the discussion with facts to support my side...but got nothing in return. I gave up on it when it became apparent that He had his beliefs and wouldn't or couldn't give specifics to me in support of his views...so I originally dropped the subject. We basically agreed to not agree

Perhaps i'm being a tad apathetic about it, but i can't be bothered to prove something that people can easily go and check themselves. If you want to dispute that it is a fact, go right ahead.

And that is a prime example of how those conversations ended. It was never my responsiblity to prove your side of the discussion, but to provide evidence of my side. If your unable or unwilling to provide evidence to support your views because you can't or won't.....fine.

We will simply agree to not agree.

It is hard to be motivated in a conversation when the other person is claiming the equivalent of "Gravity is not a fact, it's just a theory!". I mean, why bother?
