If you were raped and you (and the whole world) had never heard of abortion, would you let some mad scientist with some big knives, poisons or a vacuum do that to you? Until in history it had some degree of sucess rate, I would NOT let anyone near my bits unless they could say and show with some kind of certainty what they were doing!

This isn't about is abortion is ok today, it's more about is it ok when it's never been done before in the history of humankind...

actually there were herbs and other, natural remedies to alleviate unwanted pregnancies...so you may have a point there was never any medical venue for abortion until recent times, but people have always found ways to eliminate unwanted children.

if it was emotionally traumatising enough i'd damn well try to find a way to get the thing out of me.

I have mixed feelings on this issue, probably because I can see both sides to it. Of any of the posts I read I probably agree most with Nivvie's original post on Page 1 also with Wicked Lady to a degree. I can also see though how and why the people who seemed to express that it just seems so "easy and convenient" to do these days and I knew someone who actually had several. That's the type of person I'd like to smack upside the head and tell to get a clue about birth control. Abortion was never meant to be a regularly-used contraceptive!
