I've got years of horse experience and while I've never actually owned a horse of my own... that's the pet I'd most like to have.

My mom first let me take horseback riding lessons when I was 8 yrs old and that lasted about 2.5 years... maybe a little longer...

After that I did competition team cattle penning with my aunt and uncle over in Vancouver with the Pacific Team Cattle Penning Association. I did that regularly once a month for quite a few years...

I think my best accomplishment in all my horsey experience would be Kimo, a horse that belonged to a friend of my mom's down the road. She was a foster mom and had two kids who had ADHD, one of them with Tourette's as well... and just didn't have time for Kimo anymore. So I started going down there so he'd get exercise and he was basically green broke. Meaning he'd let me get the saddle and bridle on him, he'd let me get on and he knew "go" and "go faster" and "stop" but only in the most basic versions.

I worked with him until he knew the proper english style command for cantering and since he loved to run I figured I'd work with him and let him have his head for a while out in the huge fields out back. That worked okay for a while but then he decided stopping wasn't something he felt like doing, and it got dangerous so I had to think of something else for him to do. Trained him in jumping and how to collect and extend his stride and he was jumping waist height by the time Robin finally sold him. The girl she sold him to took him in a junior hunter division (straight course) and she fell off after the first jump and he just went the rest of the way and jumped the rest on his own. Hehe... Loved that horse.

Another horse I worked with was Sunny... belonged to the people who lived directly across the road from us. (I lived in a VERY rural area if you couldn't tell) and similar situation -- Owner didn't have the time to work the horse anymore so I got to ride. After a while I was allowed to take him out on my own around the area and found this one stretch of dirt road where it went on for like 2km just straight and you could see because it went uphill after about a km as well... Shit that horse could run. Would have LOVED to see what he could do on a racetrack... could still go riding on him although it's been 3 yrs since I last was on a horse so it probably wouldn't be wise to just hop on Sunny. His first owner used to race him against trains and that's all he did was run him... so he thinks "rider = run" and doesn't know the whole "walk" concept.

Also worked with a lady named Annette who had a pinto mare that she bred.... she got rid of the mare but I was there for the foaling which was pretty sweet. Lola was the name of the foal. Didn't really ride those horses because Lola was too little and the mare was sold... then Lola was sold and a convertible bought instead. Tsk tsk...

Also worked with a couple who had money to blow and wanted the prestige of saying they had Canadian horses. Yes there is an actual breed of horses that are "Canadian" and they're VERY good looking horses. Descended from Morgans if I remember correctly. If you're interested look them up. They had 4 adult horses and a yearling.. trained the yearling how to lunge which is basically running in a circle at the end of a lunge line (A long rope essentially) Sounds simple but the key is to get the yearling at the END of the lunge line and keep them moving in a CIRCLE... not as easy as it sounds.

Then I went to Australia for 10 months.

While I was there I worked with an ex-racehorse and stock horses... again basically just exercising them for the owner and since I enjoy jumping, doing some training for that as well. lol Spent a few months on a farm where they bred Clydesdales.... they had a stallion there that was THE most gorgeous piece of horseflesh I'd ever seen... he was stunning. He wasn't a clydesdale though, he was an arab. Simply beautiful.

A horse is #1 on my list of pets I wish to own someday... when I'm rich enough to have the property to own one of those and buy feed for it, I'll also be rich enough to get the #2 pet I want to own which is a Great Dane.

Hmmm you should see if you can find out what exactly it is that you're allergic to on them.

Hairless cats can often be had by people who are allergic to cat hair/dust/mites etc. Actually I think they're called bald Sphynx's... you'd have to get a pedigree one though and that'd cost you a bundle. I guess it depends on how much you want a cat. lol

I wouldnt want a hairless cat so I guess I'm stuck with not being able to own one.

I want to buy a few horses I miss owning my babies. I gave them up to move with my boyfriend, we are living in Toronto now, but when our lease is up we are moving out a bit so i can get a horse. I've whined for 3 years about wanting a horse. I've waited a long time

I'll never forgive myself for giving up my horses, I pine every day about it...I'm a sook. When I get back to Australia I want to set up a rehabilitation clinic for horses sent to slaughter, buy them and rehabilitate them and resell them to loving homes. The racing industry makes me sick....blergh,

I miss riding so much, last time i went riding was about a year ago, I rode a clydesdale on the beach it was awsome

Awwwe...So sweet *hugs* I CANT wait till im older. I get this house and 200 acres across from us and im going to build a huge ass show thing and shit. And run it all. And im going to buy back all my horses that i have owned (which is 20, if they r still alive, that is...And i will do whatever it takes to get them back) and have my own lil barn for them all...hehe! And be a trainer and awwe i cant wait. I just hope it all works out. But of course i HAVE to do the Grand Prix (which i could have fuckin been there this weekend...but no, my fucking back had to get fucked up...GRRRRRR) and the Olympics! Which if i win the Grand Prix, i will be in the Olympics! YAY! But i wanna get Marcus to the Olympics level..Cuz i want to win that with him...But i would also show Domino in it! And if i could have done the Grand Prix, we (me and Domino) would have won...Cuz Haley Grandson didnt do it...So i sure in hell would have won...But i still think i could have kicked her ass...hehe...Im shuttin up now...Buh-Byes!

cool do you have pics of your horses and stuff online? I did a little show jumping and cross country and stuff but not too much. I was not really into the show thing because my family was not really rich and could not afford to buy really expensive horses and alot of them. I guess my parents wern't that supportive, they sent me to riding lessons as a kid because they thought i would fall off and loose interest which i never fell off...hahahaha
