Opinions on the following:
The human brain evolved far enough to support another species. These species exist as non-physical beings. The human brain is a... breeding, nurturing base for these beings. We call them our soul. Perhaps we are them.

The human body with a basic set of instincts could very well support itself. Somehow humans evolved beyond that... Makes me wonder if a sort of symbiosis with a non-corporal species has formed...

If the brain has to be evolved that that would mean that animals have no souls and possibly your soul would be stronger the smarter you are?
Who said the species has to be non-corporal?

The higher cerebral cortex of the brain is exclusive to Humans (and some apes I think)
Maybe that's the symbiotic life form, the conscious mind, us.

I differ on that, in my belief the soul is an arrangement of energy. Individual souls are recognized by us (practitioners of psionics) as high concentrations of energy. These concentrations of energy are most noticable in humans, trees, and intelligent animals. Trees are a very dense compactment of living matter. Which is why (at least this is the theory) they have a "soul." So it turns out that small sect of pagans that "talk" to trees my not be so crazy afterall.

Anyways. That energy is unique to that individual being. But it is not exclusive. It's a hard concept to explain but, there is only a partial connection between the human brain and its high concentration of energy. In psionics this is explained by the existance of the human sub-conscious (which most animals do not posess). The sub-concscious, as we know in psionics, is far more capable of manipulation of energy than the conscious mind. And we have observed in psionic studies that the "tone" "color" "shape" or other such characteristics of the "soul" change with emotion. So the stability of ones "Soul" is determined by ones ability to control one's sub-conscious. By this, one might assume that the sub-conscious draws its energy from the universe in which it exists. So in a way, the human brain does support its soul, but in another way it does not. My primary focus lately has been associating memory with the soul. If one could connect memory to the soul, one could explain "passing on" in death. Whether passing on involves a different plane (heaven or hell) or a different physical being (reincarnation). Anyways, I hope this microscopic view into my pet field of study has given you a good view to contrast to your own. I'm not suggesting you adopt my beliefs or that mine are better than your own. I'm just saying this is how I've chosen to see it, and I hope you benefit by seeing this yourself.

When did this soul thing arrive? because if it's not in animals because they have a low intelligens, then at some point humans must have lacked the soul as well.
Or are you saying that humans is the only soul carrying animal because it's human? But if that is what your saying it has really far reaching consequences.

and perhaps u are right...maybe the human brain evolved the soul for us...and humans are the only animals which have a soul...but then again...it might be because we are too afraid to face death and to give ourselves comfort...we believe we have a soul...which will survive...even if our physical bodies dont!

Yeah have both heard about and read Descartes. When you have read Descartes you might find the "is there anything at all" scepticism interesting. But Descates proves Gods existance with the argument "God exist therefore god exists" That doesn't make much sense.
Descartes could say that i am able to sense the world therefore i am. Because it is his thinking that decives him.
But enough about Descartes. If you like Descartes you might want to know that it is in meditation 2 that he proves i think, i am. because it is first meditation 4 that he proves that we can trust logic.
