Something I was pondering.

If something you believe is not the truth, but you do not know it is not truth, would it therefore be the truth or not? And I'm NOT talking about the oh so tired blah blah reality alters however I think because I thought it. I'm thinking along the lines of ignorance, I suppose...

I don't know...

it depends on whether or not you believe truth exists outside of the mind. if you were unconscious you would have no knowledge of anything. does that mean that there is nothing? it's hard to say because we can't see past the limitations of our own minds.

like all aspects of thought and opinion, truth is subjective depending on the facts presented to a person, how their mind processes that information and then what they compute the information as meaning...toss in some personal opinion and belief and you have one persons truth

If you believe it to be the truth, then you will perceive it as the truth, your truth. Until someone else comes along and convinces you their truth is the truth. Whether or not this is the factual truth, does'nt matter.

aye... universal Truth (with a capital T) is impossible such that anyone within the system cannot see the whole system. Truth would require omnipotence, which (by my theory) noone in this universe can have...

also, there have been studies that OBSERVING as system that one thinks to be isolated still AFFECTS it... but then again, this is coming from someone inside the system soooo... damn circles...

anyway... truth (with a lower case t) is simply a matter of observed fact. people observe an act, action, event... whatever. they see something happen. that is truth. then they interpret it. no matter how close to the actual they get to though, they will never be spot on... never know the actual truth as they cannot read minds or see everything even in that isolated event becasue nothing is isolated and we get back to the Truth (with a capitol T) issue.

so we make a compromise and call that which approximates as close a possible the bare facts that we comprehend of a situation. some will get more out of it, some will get less, though either way they are of equal standing.

that make any sense?

yet, does a truth even exist? if it does, could someone be thinking it? if that "truth" became a belief, would it no longer be truth?

To the self, it would be a truth, until it was disproven by some realization or source. On the bigger picture, which no one has the capacity to see or understand, the true truth is the truth (God, I hope that made sense...).

The mind is the source of reality. Not just human minds, but all minds. Animals see the world shortsightedly and nonlogically. The laws we have seen and catalogued in the annals of science only apply in our pocket of Reality. Animal reality is more cosmic.

For me, the truth offered always has a price and is two edged, and to choose a path of it, cuts you with the other edge, I know the truth from other truths because it is like the point of the sword, It offers you no comfort as both edges cut you.

The fountain of youth, if you dont drink from it you lose, If you do drink from it you lose.

You want the truth? You want the truth? You can't handle the truth.

What if you hold no beliefs, everything you think is based on probability, what appears to be, to your limitted and fallible awareness?

Can you let go of the idea that you have to actually know anything at all?

Then what becomes of truth?

If we can never truly be aware of it, limitted by our imperfect senses and comprehensive abilities, it does not logically follow that truth isn't absolutely real. So what then would it be that people really think is flexible?

is death certain? it may be apparent, but who can say for sure? if you base knowledge on experience, as an empiricist does, then death is not certain at all.

If people start dying around you, one might draw a conclusion.
