Very well said. I have questioned the existance of God since my mind was mature enough to think about such things. And I have always come to the same conclusion, Its unrealistic to believe in a higher controlling power... but at the same time how can you not believe.
How can one look at something as beautiful as a sunset, and not see the face of god within it? How can one look up on an autumn night, see the billions of stars, feel the crisp wind, and feel utterly alone?
Christianity is fucked up. They have caused pain and suffering for millions upon millions. For that reason I renounce the christian faith, its populated by hypocrites and bigots. But I do not renounce god... a god... a force... something. Something is out there... something made all this. It would be just plain arrogant for me to believe otherwise.

And I was not making a general observation about all Christians. I said its caused suffering for millions upon millions, and it has. Crusades, inqusition, witch burnings, etc. I also said its filled with bigots and hypocrites. I know very few christians who follow the book to the letter (hypocrites), and if one does follow the book to the letter, the book itself promotes intolerance (bigots). Thats not to say I hate Christians, I know quite a few. Your religion is your choice, I don't condemn you for following it. I just dont believe in it. | |

Actually, yes. I'm sure Jesus must of done something out of the ordinary, but raise men from the dead, he did not. I mean priests and religious leaders are corrupt. Just look at the Crusades. War isn't holy. I must add that I am going to (unfortunaetly) a catholic school. The more I hear about God, the more distant I grow from the religion. They say animals don't have souls, and are machines that do not think. Now, That is definetly BS. Animals and plants have done less damage to the planet then any humans here. Humans wipe out thousands of species while the animals really aren't a cuase to human fatality. Humans are, in my mind, the most imperfect creation ever to walk on this planet. I'd be less ashamed to be a roach or protozoa than a human.

exactly necro that is why ever sence i can remember i have hated the human race, all we do is eat off life like a i virus eat destroy then move on like we did nothing. eventully we will back ourselves into a corne of no return i think that day will be soon and i'll just be laughing my ass off at all the foolish humans we did it to our selves. i just hope some life will be salvaged from it. well...um...i've never been really religious. sometimes i wish i were. But i look at the ppl around me who are very devout and i wonder if it really saves you.
My grandmother is really religious, and she got in a fight with my mom and i haven't seen her in like 3 years. My friend goes to church every sunday and prays every night before she goes to bed, but she has had sex every day for the past 2 years. I've only gone to church a couple of times, and i don't do stuff like that.
I guess my point is, going to church doesn't make you a better person, it just gives you something to believe in. For some ppl that is a good thing. some times you need something to believe in. Maybe thats the whole point of religion. so we don't go insane wondering about how the earth was made, or what happens when we die.

that make sence that what my previous post abut how i act more chatolic then most chatolics they think there like automaticlly goin to haven because they go to some church to pray when most of the time there not even paying attention then as soon as they leave they start makin fun orf people and shit church doesnt make you a better person. i mean havent believe in a religon for 3 years there are so many loops holes, but that was not my first reason that came later maybe a month later my first reason was i was tired of chatolics being arogant because there chatolic that bug me so i left then after being agnostic for awhile i started to reliase contridictions, etc. i can't stand people who think there so great and perfect cuz there religous it bugs me.

As to the issue of how God can love us, and still send us to hell, one needs to understand that God is holy. Its His nature. He is also Just. While He loves mankind very much, He cannot let sin go unpunished, because He is just. So, God offers man the opportunity to have his punishment transfered to Jesus Christ (God is still just-someone is punished for the sin)made possible by Jesus' perfection, innocent death, and ressurection. This option is placed at man's feet. Should one believe in Christ? Yes. However, not all choose to, obviously. God is prevented from bringing us to heaven with him because of one's stubborness and rebellion. His just nature (from which he may not deter) compels God to send us to our due punishment.
