i just received this in my work email, and thought it would be something nice to do...

thank them for what? they arent defending my freedom... the last army that did that was in during ww2.

regardless of the opinions on the war, is it really the servicemen who are to blame, or are they just following the orders of a poor president...

i don't support this war, i don't agree with it, and most definitly don't agree with bush, but that's no reason to leave our soldiers with a negative feeling because we don't like the war...they are doing their job! and i'm sure it's not easy over there...hate bush, don't punish the men and women who are serving their country...

I won't back them, or thank them, for massacring tons of people, while endangering their own lives in a pointless venture toward a place we shouldn't even be going.

Now if they revolted and killed Bush I'd crown them as the greatest people in the universe.

i dont support or hate them, theyre doing thier job, although i think that since they volenteer for thier job if they should be kiled its not really a tragedy. The innocent people being butchered by our boys and girls are the real ones we should be supporting. I wont lower my flag to half mast for a bunch of americans mowing down women and children because they were told to do it by thier CO, just because you have ordrers it doesnt mean you toss away morality. If my boss told me to murder someone should i do it jordyn? even if they deserve it? no i have an obligation to question his authority and orders and make my own decisions. They are JUST as guilty as the president, and therefore i will not support them, i only support bringing them home before they die more needless deaths and cause more grief to the fabric of the american communnity.

so what should the troops have done...go on strike?

does this mean im going to spit on them when they get home and call them baby killers? no, i will not because as you said theyre doing thier job, but i also will NOT support thier job, and i will not give them any more respect than anyone else, because theyre doing exactly THIER JOB. This isnt the cream of the crop of society, if youve ever spent enough time on military bases youd see that alot of them are actually scumbags with no alternatives to the military other than poverty or a really shitty job.

not report for duty, cripple the war machine BEFORE it had a chance to get going. if one or two do that theyll be arrested, if massive amounts of soldiers did it the war wouldnt even be raging on as it is now, in fact it would have never begun. Look at all the draftees who refused to report for duty in viet nam, they doing that and co-acting with the peace movement crippled the war and won over, nixon appeased the population by ending it, why? because the people stood up to say NO to war and the corrupt greed of our government.

actually i spent last summer with my sister, she's a seargent, getting paid to go to college, raising a son on her own, and while she may have been a wild child, she's no where near anything like scum...that's why most people join the military, they offer great benefits in a struggling job market...what are they supposed to do, live on welfare, hope they can make it...and scrounge for a living?

i understand what you are saying billy, but just because they are in the military, doesn't mean they are scum...

My uncle is a soldier...a lance jack I think. He`s a good man even if he is basicaly a thrall to the current government. I`d support him in that I`d want him to stay alive and defend those that might need it but not to go out and kill as a part of a invading force.

i didnt say all soldiers are scum jory, in fact i said alot of the soldiers are scum. Which is true, a vast nuber of them would be on welfare were it not for the military, unfortunatly these are the same people who dropped out of highschool or didnt want to work when they got out. This MAY exclude people you know including your sister, since SOME and ALL are two very differnt things.

i think this war is definitly the result of poor diplomacy, not only did america confirm the middle easts concept of america, but alienated many allies and other countries...i sorta agree with you red, but still i think the troops over there would need a little moral...they are just men and women, trying to support their family and waking with the possibility that they may never get to see them again...

good point billy, i'm sorry. I'm just super proud of my sister, i don't know if she'd be alive and healthy if the army didn't find her...i take this a little personal...i just don't like the thought of our soldiers having to be over there because of some president...i personally think we should let iraq and the entire middle east deal with their own problems...focusing more on our own here in the states...but the soldiers over there have no control over their fates, anymore than we have control over our governments...even though it's supposed to be a "democracy"

but whose fault is that? did the government FORCE them to join the military or did they do so willingly? If they were drafted i would feel completly differnt, but fac tis they were NOT drafted and deserve no more respect than a waitress.

wether or not they thought they were going to war is irreleant they still joined themselves. If they didnt volenteer there would probably not be a draft since i seriously doubt that anyone would go, lord knows i sure as hell wouldnt. People are too ME ME ME today the MTV generation. Thier parents were flower power kids who protested viet nam big time. There is NO WAY a draft would be tolerated. So i have to disagree with you on that one jordy.

If they bring about the draft I will laugh in their face, take it to the court(lose even though I'd have impeccable logic on my side), and then laugh some more as I wander into Canada.

The draft breaks the constitution. Therefore, since all laws are based on how constitutional the crap is, the draft is an illegal form of enslavement that would not be allowed. Fear.

Yet they can still bring it back since NOBODY would fight it. Why? Because they all want to go die instead of waste time in jail.

I, however, will only kill when either my cats are murdered(my wonderful cats) or when I'm specifically targetted.
