Since we've just had a merger of 2 boards, it might be time to re-evaluate the posting guidelines and also pay more attention to the existing forum guidelines.
Firstly, there are a lot of politics topics being posted in the Serious Discussions board rather than the Politics board. I'm as guilty of this as anyone else - it comes from when it used to be the World Events board. Would it be sensible to now be more careful about posting political posts in the Politics board, and keeping the Serious Discussions board for more general stuff?
Secondly, the exisiting posting guidelines are now being ignored. To quote from the guidelines (
Posting Guidelines for This Forum - Important):
"1) Please only post one such article per day. Sometimes, people are posting threads back to back. This gets especially annoying when they all have similar subjects. [a very pertinent guideline at the moment!].
2) Don't just post an article or link to a website and leave it at that. Post some commentary about it in order to start some sort of discussion. Even if you just state your view on it in a few sentences, then people can agree/disagree about it."
Both of these guidelines have been ignored a lot recently. I won't even mention the "No Flaming" rule.
