part of me wants to be outraged that their required to pay such a high amount for a program designed to keep kids out of trouble and off the street, but at the same time, what are they teaching their boyscouts about acceptance and the law?

i'll leave this choice to the courts, personally i don't see why it's a big deal, gay people aren't a threat to our children, pedophiles are.

I'm reminded of a little controvery 10 years ago or something. The Citadel, a military academy in Charleston, SC, was forced to admit a woman for the first time in like 200 years after litigation and all that babble about equal rights. She promptly washed out because she simply couldn't hack it. That always bugged the shit out of me. Not really sure why I'm reminded of that instance. Just am.

Girls, Gays and the Godless are excluded from the boy scouts so that people don't have wild satanic orgies like everywhere else girls, gays and atheists congregate (like libraries).

If the Boy Scouts, as an organization, are going to stand up for what I presume are their beliefs concerning homosexuals, then they should willingly... hell, GLADLY... accept the consequences for such a stand.

The only real question is is the city telling the truth concerning the inability to "legally rent taxpayer-owned property for a nominal sum to a private organization that discriminates." This is a matter of fact, not opinion. Someone should look it up. Is there, or is there not a preexisting law or guideline concerning non-discrimination? If there is, then the only thing to discuss is whether or not the law is fair. I think it is. If there IS no such law or guideline, then the discussion becomes a matter of "spot the liar" and "do you agree with the reason behind the lie".
