That said, its was not the best PR for the Isrealis last year when Isreal did such minor acts like leveling an entire Palestinian village...

Does that make it right for assholes to enforce their will on Jews? No. But it does happen.

Look at the racial profiling that happened after 9/11...and various clashes with Arabic people in this nation.

You complain about political corectness, and then act appalled when something like this happens. You can't have it both ways.

Now you are full of bull. The villagers quickly vacate when the bulldozers come. It makes them homeless, but that is war. A war that these very guilty villagers have eagerly participated in.

Since the Arabs refuse to peacefully coexist with Israel, they should be moved out of the West Bank and into the State of Jordan. Remember that the West Bank was Trans-Jordan before the 1967 war, these people are technically Jordanians.

Early in the morning of Friday, April 9, 1948, commandos of the Irgun, headed by Menachem Begin, and the Stern Gang attacked Deir Yassin, a village with about 750 Palestinian residents. It was several weeks before the end of the British Mandate. The village lay outside of the area that the United Nations recommended be included in a future Jewish State. Deir Yassin had a peaceful reputation and was even said by a Jewish newspaper to have driven out some Arab militants. But it was located on high ground in the corridor between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem and one plan, kept secret until years afterwards, called for it to be destroyed and the residents evacuated to make way for a small airfield that would supply the beleaguered Jewish residents of Jerusalem.

By noon over 100 people, half of them women and children, had been systematically murdered. Four commandos died at the hands of resisting Palestinians using old Mausers and muskets. Twenty-five male villagers were loaded into trucks, paraded through the Zakhron Yosef quarter in Jerusalem, and then taken to a stone quarry along the road between Givat Shaul and Deir Yassin and shot to death. The remaining residents were driven to Arab East Jerusalem.

That evening the Irgunists and the Sternists escorted a party of foreign correspondents to a house at Givat Shaul, a nearby Jewish settlement founded in 1906. Over tea and cookies they amplified the details of the operation and justified it, saying Deir Yassin had become a concentration point for Arabs, including Syrians and Iraqis, planning to attack the western suburbs of Jerusalem. They said that 25 members of the Haganah militia had reinforced the attack and claimed that an Arabic-speaking Jew had warned the villagers over a loudspeaker from an armored car. This was duly reported in The New York Times on April 10.

A final body count of 254 was reported by The New York Times on April 13, a day after they were finally buried. By then the leaders of the Haganah had distanced themselves from having participated in the attack and issued a statement denouncing the dissidents of Irgun and the Stern Gang, just as they had after the attack on the King David Hotel in July 1946. A 1987 study undertaken by Birzeit University's Center for Research and Documentation of Palestinian Society found "the numbers of those killed does not exceed 120".

The Haganah leaders admitted that the massacre "disgraced the cause of Jewish fighters and dishonored Jewish arms and the Jewish flag." They played down the fact that their militia had reinforced the terrorists' attack, even though they did not participate in the barbarism and looting during the subsequent "mopping up" operations.

They also played down the fact that, in Begin's words, "Deir Yassin was captured with the knowledge of the Haganah and with the approval of its commander" as a part of its "plan for establishing an airfield."

Ben Gurion even sent an apology to King Abdullah of Trans-Jordan. But this horrific act served the future State of Israel well. According to Begin:


Arabs throughout the country, induced to believe wild tales of "Irgun butchery," were seized with limitless panic and started to flee for their lives. This mass flight soon developed into a maddened, uncontrollable stampede. The political and economic significance of this development can hardly be overestimated.


Of about 144 houses, 10 were dynamited. The cemetery was later bulldozed and, like hundreds of other Palestinian villages to follow, Deir Yassin was wiped off the map. By September, Orthodox Jewish immigrants from Poland, Rumania, and Slovakia were settled there over the objections of Martin Buber, Cecil Roth and other Jewish leaders, who believed that the site of the massacre should be left uninhabited. The center of the village was renamed Givat Shaul Bet. As Jerusalem expanded, the land of Deir Yassin became part of the city and is now known simply as the area between Givat Shaul and the settlement of Har Nof on the western slopes of the mountain.

The massacre of Palestinians at Deir Yassin is one of the most significant events in 20th-century Palestinian and Israeli history. This is not because of its size or its brutality, but because it stands as the starkest early warning of a calculated depopulation of over 400 Arab villages and cities and the expulsion of over 700,000 Palestinian inhabitants to make room for survivors of the Holocaust and other Jews from the rest of the world.

Are we forgetting the fact that before the Israeli state was actually formed, the Jews performed acts of guerilla warfare and terrorism against the British in order to force them to withdraw from the area? Those people practically wrote the book on terrorism.

Six Palestinians have been killed in another eruption of violence in the occupied territories. One was a 14-year-old boy, shot in the back by Israeli soldiers near his home in the West Bank city of Qalqilya.

The other five appeared to be armed militants. Four were killed by an Israeli helicopter rocket during a firefight with Israeli soldiers in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip. The fifth was shot dead in the West Bank city of Nablus, also during a gunfight with Israeli soldiers.

In the West Bank city of Tulkarem, more than 1,000 Palestinian men and teenage boys have been rounded up for questioning in the past few days, after a suicide bombing in the nearby Israeli city of Netanya last week in which 30 people were injured. Most have been released, but the Israeli army was not allowing them to return to their homes, which it said were being searched.

After two weeks of comparative calm in the occupied territories, the Israeli army is stepping up its raids and incursions again. It had backed off under what analysts believed was pressure from the United States to keep the area calm during the Iraq war.

Jihad Nazal, 14, died during a raid by the Israeli army in Qalqilya late on Wednesday night. The Israeli army said he was running down the street, and did not stop when soldiers ordered him to. He was shot in the back, witnesses said.

In the early hours of yesterday, the army raided Rafah, the southernmost city in the Gaza Strip. Thirty-five tanks, four helicopters and more than a dozen bulldozers moved into a refugee camp and a gunfight broke out.

Four Palestinians were killed – all by shrapnel from a helicopter rocket, Palestinian doctors said. Seven armed Palestinians were injured. Onelightly wounded man told al-Jazeera television that he tried to drag a wounded militant out of the line of fire but the Israeli soldiers increased their firing and he could not.

Four Israeli soldiers were injured when a bomb went off under their tank. The militant group Hamas claimed responsibility and said it was a gift to the Iraqi people.

The Israeli army said it launched the raid to find tunnels that it claims Palestinian militants use to smuggle weapons into the Gaza Strip under the Egyptian border. It did not find any, but demolished five houses.

In Nablus yesterday, Khaled Rihan, 28, a local Hamas leader, was killed in a firefight with Israeli soldiers who went to arrest him. His wife, Salam, said Rihan was hiding in a relative's house when soldiers broke down the door. He fired at the soldiers with a pistol. They returned fire and killed him

10. The Jewish refugees were forced to flee from Arab lands due to Arab brutality, persecution and pogroms.

11. The number of Arab refugees who left Israel in 1948 is estimated to be around 630,000. The number of Jewish refugees from Arab lands is estimated to be the same.

12. Arab refugees were INTENTIONALLY not absorbed or integrated into the Arab lands to which they fled, despite the vast Arab territory. Out of the 100,000,000 refugees since World War II, theirs is the only refugee group in the world that has never been absorbed or integrated into their own peoples' lands. Jewish refugees were completely absorbed into Israel, a country no larger than the state of New Jersey.

13. The Arab - Israeli Conflict: The Arabs are represented by eight separate nations, not including the Palestinians. There is only one Jewish nation. The Arab nations initiated all five wars and lost. Israel defended itself each time and won.

14. The P.L.O.'s Charter still calls for the destruction of the State of Israel. Israel has given the Palestinians most of the West Bank land, autonomy under the Palestinian Authority, and has supplied them.

15. Under Jordanian rule, Jewish holy sites were desecrated and the Jews were denied access to places of worship. Under Israeli rule, all Muslim and Christian sites have been preserved and made accessible to people of all faiths.

16. The U.N. Record on Israel and the Arabs: of the 175 Security Council resolutions passed before 1990, 97 were directed against Israel.

17. Of the 690 General Assembly resolutions voted on before 1990,429 were directed against Israel.

18. The U.N was silent while 58 Jerusalem Synagogues were destroyed by the Jordanians.

19. The U.N. was silent while the Jordanians systematicallydesecrated the ancient Jewish cemetery on the Mount of Olives.

Delusions are a two-way street and the West is not immune. The West's principal delusion is that we can promote mass sanity among Muslims through diplomacy. It's an absurd pipe dream. You don't talk people out of the thing that gives their lives meaning; the best you can hope for is convincing them of its futility with minimal bloodshed.

The great exemplar here is the intellectual Left's perennial call for a "diplomatic solution" to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict; it's up to the United States, their argument goes, as the world's only superpower, to bring the two sides together, to find a suitable middle ground. In the abstract, this sounds fine. But when the Palestinians' persistent, heartfelt, non-negotiable demand is for the rest of the world to recognize their divine right as Arabs to possess the Islamic holy land -- in effect, to drive the Jews into the sea -- what would a middle ground look like? Jews agreeing to be driven into the sea up to their waists?
