religion versus philosophy
Debate and DiscussionDiscuss religion versus philosophy in the Discussions forums; Well, I do practice Christianity but not in an extreme sense. I take it easy and follow the analogies. I don't use it as a book of law....
Philosophers think with an open mind...May hold an opinion but expect dissolutionment.
Religion is unchanging and unadaptive...decrees 'absolute truth' allowing for only those who wish to manipulate others with the system to be 'free thinkers'...

Jordyn, honey...i can sum it up for you very easily...
a "personal philosophy" becomes a "religion" when you close yourself off to counter-arguments equal (or substantially close) to the logic you abide by....so, if i no longer accept any counter-arguments to any of the philosophies i abide by, then i shall relinguish my title as philosopher (of DF)

I don't think cynics should generally be allowed to write the dictionary, Ambroce Bierce excepting.
When people talk of the freedom of writing, speaking or thinking I cannot choose but laugh. No such thing ever existed. No such thing now exists; but I hope it will exist. But it must be hundreds of years after you and I shall write and speak no more.
that doesn't really contribute to the discussion mel...but, um, go you
