Yet we have more people emigrating, legally, to the U.S. annually than any two of the EU nations combined. Go figure.
People go on about this immigration thing like we're a nation that doesn't want anyone coming in. When people oppose this bill, the race card is immediately played...usually by a member of La Raza, whose name, translated into English is..."The Race." Ok, who's the racist here? The thing is, if you look at a breakdown of this bill, and what it proposes, you can see that it's severely flawed. You're better off coming into the country illegally than you are going by normal channels.
There's something severely dysfunctional about the way we're looking at immigration in this country, and I can't figure out why. It's one thing when you've got people coming in who
want to be U.S. citizens. It's another entirely when you've got people coming in and funneling money down south into the failing Mexican economy while taking advantage of social programs which are funded by the tax dollars of citizens. Complete bullshit.
You want to solve the immigration problem, it won't be through any legislation here. Help Mexico fix their economical problems (help them, don't throw money at them...that seems to be Bush's answer to everything) and in the meantime, secure the border.
