That takes me back to an earlier question again : how has Lucifer affected humanity?

He gave them music, poetry, romantic love (not that these are bad things). The mian problem was romantic love, where before, the only love one could have was sexual (which was passing at best) and love for God. Now you could love your fellow human being, detracting your attention from God.

What I'm not convinced of? That Lucifer, Satan and the serpent has similarities. I can accept certain similar aspects between Satan and the serpent, but in my opinion, Lucifer stands in a league of his own.

And which league is that? This IS NOT a challenge, i just want tyo know what you think. And plus, which light did he bring?

What I mean by league is that Lucifer is not basically evil. I dont know if the snake could be considered evil, that depends on its motives, of which we know nothing about. But unlike Satan and the snake, Lucifer never harmed Man. If your teacher was right, Lucifer could have given Man these gifts to show God He is not all-powerful, that his reign is easy to break. In other words, a challenge, or the acts of a jealous child. But not evil.

The name Lucifer means lightbringer, or lightbearer. He is also known as the child of dawn. This because he was made of fire, and also Gods first creation and favourite child. Until Man came, that is.

In all honesty, I love the God i believe in and I know I am loved by God, but one con't always understand the motives of a God. Why would we need religion, or any spirituality, for that matter, if the divine were not mysterious?

Yes you're right, Set wasn't born directly of Ra.Ra produced Shu/Tefnut who produced Geb/Nut who produced Set I was being a bit too christian in my description, Ra as the divine source creating all beneath him,just as Satan was technically born of god.

And, correct me if I'm wrong, but he's also the god of hate. And his sister/wife is the goddess of love?

By his acts, Set would have been seen as a god of hate/jealousy. His sister wife, Nephthys by her close association with Isis, would have been associated with love and in her role as protectress of the dead she would maybe have contradicted the destructive qualities of Set who possibly brought eternal death. Whereas she ensured new life.
