Okay...
I know it is an important subject, however it is getting tiresome. Everybody has their views and opinions and beliefs and stuff on the subject of the war, it's getting written about to death... as I saw on a website today, it asked if the minute by minute update on the war wasn't turning the whole thing into a spectator sport, and 80% of the people who voted on the associated poll, said "yes" to that...
So lets change the subject to something else.
Perhaps say something along the lines of what people would like to see from their individual countries. Lets all just pretend for a few min, that the war is not happening, never did happen, if you could stop the clock so that all time paused around you, and you had the power to alter and change how your country was run etc... what changes would you make?
I know we have people from all over the place, so it should be interesting to see the differences in the changes to the individual countries, as well as the differences from individuals themselves.

Nicely done Kundalini...
it is about time to get onto something different, and this could possily be a good place to start (Topic wise)..
As a side comment,.. I like your user name. Have you by any chance experienced a 'awakening' experience ? Either way, its good to see someone who recognises spiritual englightenment in this Corporate day & age.
Okay,.. so Im in Australia, and several things I'd like to see changed, but they are dramatic revolutionary changes im talking of...
on the minor scale, the removal of the Liberal party(current Federal Gov't) with their union destruction and US Imperalism worshipping agenda.
But then this leads onto the system: Capitalism.
(This though needs an entire thread for me to trully explain this). I see it that Capitalism, has become perverted from its origin, as an ideology, and this has been laregly executed by governments working to the agenda of Corporations, instead of representing the people.
Dont get me wrong here, I dont support Socialism or Communism, though I do believe pure Marxism from its ideology forms, without any Corruption, may have presented civilizations with a workable 'system'. But its inhert within man to corrupt, so that wouldnt work anyway.
Anyway, back to Capitalism, in its original ideological form... I do support it - its just fucked now.. the system that is.
So, whats this directly got to do with Australia ?... well I see it as alot of the problems we, in Australia are facing; the usual governments cutbacks to Education, Health Care, Unemployment... their all direct results of where the Capitalist system is being driven: GATS (General Agreement of Trades in Serivces) a nice little tool of the World Trade Organization.
So to summarise, I'm not bitching all that much about how fucked things are in this country. Its all driven by the pervasion in the Capitalist system: and thats a World problem... and thats all I generally bitch about.
Do I have a solution... well thats a Yes/No answer, I'll post after others. "aeterna veritas" eternal truth Corporate Greed...
Economy without Society

I had a thread, two I believe, about changing the topic. Nothing ever really happened. *chuckle*
On a side note, I definitely think we need to take a 180 from this. We're on a very political subject, so next week's (month's) topic should be something more light hearted that we might be able to discuss without throwing insults around every 15 words. ________________________________

New topic: who do you want to hump on darkforum and why?
My job is done here; see you in a few days . Bismarck once said "Fools say they like to learn from their experiences, but I prefer to learn from the experience of others."

Corporate Pig,
Thank you first of all for the compliment in regards to my username... ~smiles a little~ Few are those who actually know the meaning of it. As for an awakening, yes I would say that I experienced one. Was it a happy experience? Well, no not really however I think it was for the betterment of myself that I went through it, and while I disliked it at the time, it will enable me to truly be happy in my future... so in that regards it is good. ~smiles~
I find it factually quite fascinating that you are in Australia and the Liberal party is running the show there, as they are here in Canada as well. And the differences between the two are yet so interesting. Yes the liberal government does make cut backs here, however in the past year or so our Liberal party has been able to see how some of those cutbacks were not to the country's benefit, and we just recently had the entire medical funding program redone. The territories premiers had walked out upon Jean Chretien's preliminary introduction of the new proposal for the federal medical funding, he later called them back for a meeting so that they could come to an agreement which I think is an excellent display of diplomacy. As for the destruction of the unions... there has been no notice of such here in Canada but with the job that I work in, the destruction of unions would be seen as a very good thing. Mind you this is far from where I would like to spend the rest of my life and career, so right now I am not too concerned about it.... I have only truly experienced the one side of the coin, and the company I work for is currently non-unionized and we have a full medical services plan, which covers medical dental visionary coverage, full... as well as extended coverage for dependents and spouses, as well as coverage for if we travel to the US, we are not forced into doing any hours of work which we don't wish to do and we have an awesome break schedule. Two 15 min breaks plus a half hour lunch in an 8 and a half hour shift, (the lunch is unpaid, so it is 8 and a half hours so that we may get a full 8 hours pay) it works out so that we are only on shift for two hours before we get a break.
Now, what would I work on if I could pause time and rearrange the political structure of my country?
Well, first of all I have always felt that no matter what government gets elected in, and no matter what the party representative claims they will do for the country, I really do feel that they have no idea what it's like until they're actually there. One thought I had the other day was that it really must suck to be President of the US, because I truly do doubt that they get a day off. Sure they can pretend to go on vacation, but how relaxing can it be surrounded by the secret service and stuff every single day of the year, and they have to be able to be reached in case something goes wrong, so they don't get any real time off... Poor suckers.
Don't ask me why that popped into my mind, but what changes I would make to our political structure would more than likely also affect the structure of the society of Canada... If unemployment is exceedingly high in one province as opposed to another, then I would create incentives for companies to go create job opportunities in the province where the unemployment rate was high. Just don't ask me how I'd do that.... I'm sure it's possible but it would take some real effort and time to pull it off...
The medical funding of the country has just been redone and the results are satisfactory for the time being... which is a step up from the unsatisfactory state that they were in before. I think the education system would definately be worked on a lot... again, the incentives thing would kick in effect there big timers. If unemployment was high, but there was a lot of job opportunities in one field, and not enough people to fulfill them... lower the unemployment by lowering the costs of studying for that particular career... increase the people availalbe to fill the spots, boost the economy, save industries from going completely under, such as the logging industry or the fishing industry... etc.
Other than that... I dunno maybe I've managed to completely sidetrack myself off my own topic... LOL
I'm sure there's a lot more to running a country than what meets the citizens eye, and I cannot imagine the pressure one must be under, trying to please millions upon millions of people... Hmmmm *muses*

Hmmmm *muses* | We all say "I'd love to be the president of blah blah blah" but I wouldn't. No matter what you do, there's always going to be a large group of people that hate you, mock you, etc because of your party, beliefs, hairstyle, anything. Being president is great, but in a way it really sucks lol. ________________________________
