Well one simple suggestion I would give is to never let anyone else read it and if you bought it in a shop then it's useless.

I know one guy who spent ages transcribing one he bought in a shop to make a good one, theoretically it should work.

I'm not into talismans myself, I see them as baggage rather than a focus

the only grimoire i've ever read, used and had success with is a pre-wiccan one from my father(he got it while in the navy overseas)...those are the best booksin my opinion! What concerns me with modern "grimoires" is as fero mentioned...don't let anyone read them, it's a personal thing, like a magical journal or diary...like most any book today, just read it over and make sure you want to spend twenty dollars on it...the last one i purchase was urban primitive, just because it has more information than spell in it...and it's written with a jaded city life humor.

always go with your instinct when looking at book to purchase, one does not need many books to be a master, but the courage to seek and the wisdom to ask.

...If you don't see a book you like, don't settle for just anything that looks interesting, wait.
