Hopefully someone hasn't already posted this somewhere... http://www.cnn.com/2003/LAW/09/02/ab....ap/index.html "The sooner I am executed ... the sooner I am going to heaven," he said. "I expect a great reward in heaven. I am looking forward to glory. I don't feel remorse."
"More people should act as I have acted," Hill added.

Aagh
Touchy subject. Lots of people are against abortion, lots of people aren't. I guess what we all just really need to remember though is that it boils down to individual decision. What decision would be best for us in our circumstances isn't necessarily the decision that would be best for another individual in whatever their given circumstances are.
I don't see a problem with it if going through with the pregnancy is going to result in serious medical problems for the mother, or if the mother is say 14, or so on and so forth. I disagree with it though when people just aren't careful and get knocked up and have more than one abortion and carry on in the same manner...
O'well. I'm not going to spend energy or effort feeling 'sad' at how pathetic that particular individual is in that link. It won't make him change his mind about how he views things and the system he believes in isn't one that I myself believe in at all so I can't very well say "I think he's going to hell" when my own beliefs don't revolve around those standards.

I didn't even really want to get into the abortion debate here....what makes me sad is that the guy thinks he's going to be rewarded in heaven for killing a doctor, and that he wishes MORE PEOPLE would do the same....thats what I think is just sick. Make me believe I'm not going to die...

Yes that is sad...
Regardless of race, religion, gender, social status, and all the rest however it is never right to take a life. And whether he "goes to hell" or whether his soul has to undergo serious retribution for what he did, either way we can be confident that while justice may seem small in comparison on this end, it will be far more effectual on the other side.

Where are the anti death penalty protestors now? When people talk of the freedom of writing, speaking or thinking I cannot choose but laugh. No such thing ever existed. No such thing now exists; but I hope it will exist. But it must be hundreds of years after you and I shall write and speak no more.

Let him die. It'll be funny as he's dying when he realizes that he's gonna be nothing but fertilizer for the grass growing 6 feet above him.

The thing that people fail to appreciate is the drastic nature of the difference between pro- and anti-abortion philosophies. To someone who believes in the soul being realized at conception, an abortion doctor is literally just a serial child killer. Even worse- they're a serial killer that's paid for it. Not every argument has a happy "let's agree to disagree" solution. This argument certainly doesn't. It's either murder, or it's a sensible, moral practice. There's absolutely no room for middle ground in the reality of the thing.
Of course, I'm against human-sponsored death in all forms, so I'm against the abortion doctors, but also against anyone deciding they have the right to kill those doctors, and then furthermore against the government assuming the right to take the life of any party involved. When people talk of the freedom of writing, speaking or thinking I cannot choose but laugh. No such thing ever existed. No such thing now exists; but I hope it will exist. But it must be hundreds of years after you and I shall write and speak no more.

Very well-put, Dark Messiah.
My position exists on the fact that life in general should not be extinguished if at all possible.
But I've never been pregnant (since I'm male), nor have I ever fathered a child. There is something missing in my existence so far as a human being that keeps me from forming a cemented opinion on this subject.
I tend to respect almost everyone's opinion on this, though, as being valid.
It is a very, very difficult subject.

I definitely agree. I've probably changed my mind on this topic more than any other political issue.
Just to clarify, I didn't mean to suggest that anyone's perception, or opinion, of the matter was invalid, but that in the objective reality of it, only one opinion can be remotely right, and the other horribly mistaken. When people talk of the freedom of writing, speaking or thinking I cannot choose but laugh. No such thing ever existed. No such thing now exists; but I hope it will exist. But it must be hundreds of years after you and I shall write and speak no more.

It's a touchy situation... Many people go after the doctors and employees of the clinics, but it's the government of the state that allows it. People who are against abortion should be going to their congressman, not the clinics.
If you were a child that was going to be born into a "third-world country" of a home where the father beats the wife and food was as likely to come around as your education and hopes to living a better life... Would you rather die before you knew it? or would you like to live through hell and then die? or worse yet... Continue living in hell? I certainly would choose the latter.
But say... it was a couple who could raise a child in a healthy environment, with loving parents... But they simply didn't want the child... I don't think it's right to allow an abortion. That couple should've been on birthcontrol of some sort.
If the government did some sort of "test" for the allowance of abortion... things might work better, but it'd cost money. Something such as a form that would ask for adjusted gross income, living conditions, reason for wanting the abortion, and etc... It'd probably go through better.
Or say, you were a woman who was raped? What do you do then?
Then there's a matter of how long the pregnancy has been on... I'm a major in Biology and I've seen all there is to see in the womb... And say, if the person is past the first tri-mester... Well, there shouldn't be an abortion. During the first 3 months, the being living in the uterus isn't exactly "living". And 3 months is damn well enough time to decide whether or not you can handle raising a child... And even then, there should be tests run to allow or not allow an abortion.
Anyways... I suppose that's my "to the people" opinion. But personally, if my girlfriend and I were to become pregnant... There is no such thing as abortion. The child will be born and raised the best as I can possibly do it.

Abortion must be allowed, this place is overpopulated as it is. If we dont we are all gonna die from a lack of resources. Life is pain. Again...the point of the article was that this man is being put to death, and feels he will be rewarded in a Christian heaven for killing an abortion doctor.
Is the point just too clear cut to discuss?
Perhaps so. | |

Everyone is rewarded according to their intent. Perhaps if he thought he was actually saving lives, he will be. If he did it just because he thought he'd be rewarded for killing someone, though, he's no different than a Wahabbi terrorist.
