Do you really believe that liberals are keeping back such potential horrors from occuring?

I believe liberals were a big force in the end of slavery and in the push for civil rights. I believe the KKK tends to be made up of conservatives. I believe that liberals are less likely to use nuclear weapons. I believe that burning people at the stake is more of a conservative tactic. I also believe that these, like most parody, are humorous and not to be taken too seriously.

You'd be amazed how many racists are socialists or believers in some variety of left-wing politics. Check out any white power message board, you'll see it for yourself.

JLB, you do realize that the Republican and Democratic parties that we know today did not exist during the civil war, right? They've had several throughout our country's history but they've changed.

Which again will only apply if your opinion of left wing politics is the same as it seems to be in parts of the US. I see more right wingers than left wingers on the few places like that I have been.

Liberal does not mean "Democrat." A liberal is a progressive.

In fact, most "liberals" don't even like the Democratic party.

The Republican Party was founded by Abraham Lincoln, and he was President during the entire civil war. The Republican Party was founded on an anti-slavery platform, against the pro-slavery Democrats.


The Democrat Party was founded in 1792.


So you are wrong. Both parties existed during the Civil War, but only one was an anti slavery party.

A party called titled "Democrat" was indeed created back then....but I do seem to recall that the actual structure if it changed a great deal through the years...

Since I got the date from the Democratic Party web site, I'd say it's the same party.

Fabulous job of purposefuly ignoring the grey area because it suits your argument to do so.

There's also the little bit about the parties changing over time, and geographical problems (such as, Southern Democrats are traditionally more conservative than Northern Democrats).

It's the same party. They say so on their web site.

If you are saying different, then I would love to see your proof.
