a murderous sort of killer, say a good friend, association or other, interesting person and they began to share their deeds with you in picture and in depth disucssions...would you encourage them, for your own morbid curiosity, fascination or perhaps something more deeply felt for them or do the politically correct thing, and turn them into the authorities?

i would be morbidly fascinated...curious about the details...sure, it's the illegal thing to do, but if they don't get caught...how would you?

besides, it'd give a whole new level to my stories.

In theory, yes I would be interested - I live on a constant supply of crime novels...but I've been in that situation and it makes me uncomfortable. I wouldn't call the police, I just stop having anything to do with that person. I think I do the same to all nut jobs...

I would call the police, something like this in my opinion is not something you can call "politically correct".
I would feel responsible when more people get killed by this person and I knew about it and could have done something to prevent it.

Depends on who they've killed.

If say, it was someone who was a vigilanty or soldier. Then I could understand; but people who commit gratuitously violent and inhumane acts are just repugnant to me.

I could be all darkly badass and say I'd be morbidly fascinated, but honestly if one of my friends turned out to be a psychopath I'd turn the crazy fucker in before he killed anyone I'd rather keep alive, like myself.

Hey, nice post count. What about someone claiming to have commited an act of vigilantism? Against someone who was say a rapist, murderer or pedophile?

I don't think you can claim it...legally. Everyone has the right to a fair trial right?

You're no fun . . . Seriously though, it seems as though everyone gets behind that sort of thing; I remember reading about one incident a few years back where an elderly woman's grandaughter was raped. After finding the rapist based on her discription, she obtained his photograph to double-check with her grandaughter . . . She then accosted the rapist and shot him in the genitals . . .
I definetly can't get behind it in cases of sencond hand accounts but . . . Maybe when there are multiple unbiased witnesses?

Still deserves a fair trial right? How do YOU know there are multipule unbiased witnesses when you are biased as an interviewer?

to bring your story a whole new level. why not go with the facination and then turn them into the authorities?
