So all the sumerian Gods are fiction, the sumerian culture is fiction? if that is the case any book written concerning such things would be fake. Including the egyption culture! How do you know that the book of the dead is fact, and not a work of fiction, or the bible for that matter...Were you there when it was written. If you re read my post you will see that I posed it as a question. Someone who says he is fond of the Sumerians should be able to shed some light on that fact. I never said it was real, I never claimed that it was fact, simply there are more forms out there than H.P. Lovecraft's. He by no means is a "master" of the occult. Simply because a book has a similiar name, does not mean it contains similar text...IT WAS NOT CREATED BY LOVECRAFT. He simply made the rumors more famous. No one has been able to say if it is based on fact or not.

I never said that the Sumerian Gods were fiction, I only stated that The Necronomicon is a work of fiction. And yes, despite what your nice little link said, The Necronomicon WAS invented by H.P. Lovecraft. It was however based upon The Book of The Dead and many other old Tales. Take notice that I said "Based upon" not written with the exact words. Now as far as The Book of the Dead being fact, I know it exist......for last I read it was in a Museum in Cairo. However, I never read it. I have however read the paperback version and I am convenced that the paperback is a fake. Just like your Necronomicon, I have read all three versions of the paperbacks, all of which are based loosely on The Book of the Dead. But what you fail to realize is The whole concept of a Sumerian Book of The Dead called "The Necronomicon" does not exist. It was never mentioned in old Sumerian fabels as The Book of the Dead was in Egypt.The Necronomicon was written by H.P.Lovecraft, the other two are simply trying to make money off of a good idea by calling fiction fact.

So then...all books relating to dealing with the dead are based from the Egyptians? How does ways to exist in the afterlife relate to actual necromancy? Have you even read one of the other books? Have you read ancient sumerian history? They in actuality do not deal with the dead. This arguement is growing dead! Now about how I know Lovecraft invented it, The Necronomicon was never even heard of until he wrote his book. Even in your favored Sumerian history, The Necronomicon is not even so much as mentioned. Yet after Lovecraft, The book was known. I find it funny that the sumerians did not even know about the book and yet the book was written by them.

What I rememer she is some mother/creation Goddess, they mention her as some kind of serpent, and now resigned to demonhood as many other historical deities. I do not need to make people look like fools, they do well enough on their own. If you research those you try to humble, you will see that I admit I do not know everything, I have more than once asked questions of those who know what I do not. I was never attempting to prove nor disprove the existence of an original Necronomicon.... though I am sure that the Sumerians did have their relative comparitive book of say The Egyptian Book of The Dead as the Egyptians took on wholesale most of the other "Mythos" of both the Sumerians and the Babylonians....
so in retrospect I am sure that the Sumerians had one though I doubt it was called the Necronomicon......
