Some of it, not enough car chases and the hero dies in the end! Work is of two kinds: first, altering the position of matter at or near the earth's surface relatively to other such matter; second, telling other people to do so.

Pretty much cover to cover. I'd read as much as you can if I were you. Nothing takes down preachy christians like quoting the bible to them. They really hate that!

I've read quite a bit of it. It's difficult to argue about something you know nothing about...

I've read parts of it, by much the same reason as Shadow here. And we were forced to read excerpts in school. That's what you get for living in a Christian country... You promised me the ending would be clear

I've read parts...but only the parts that I have been able to present a contradiction to, as in the bible's "theories" on how things came to be, how the exist in the present, and how things will end. So basically, I've read up on the Bible about Creation, how Life exist, and of Death and/or Armageddon. All the other stuff in the Bible...to me... is just a very small portion of the History of the World that has been recorded, but has been tainted and twisted. And I do not care about twisted history, because Twisted History is the same thing as Fiction. Therefore, the Bible is Fiction in my eyes. That is my opinion, and I am not presenting an argument by posting this.

I've read a fair bit of it.
Do I think it's necessary? Well, if you wan't to have any understanding or educated opinions on one of the largest religions in the world aswell as all it's different denominations; then yeah, you might wanna' take a look at it. Is it critical to your well being...no. Dogs fucked the pope...no fault of mine...

Like I said before, it's always best to know what you're talking about before you open your mouth. Hence, if you get into an argument with someone espousing a particular belief you disagree with, and they base their argument on the Bible, there's no better way to refute them than with the very book they use to back up their belief.

Or you could just tell them to fuck off.
But anyhoo maybe some people dnt like to get into arguements and by the looks of *some* of the Christain posters its like talking to a brick wall. Work is of two kinds: first, altering the position of matter at or near the earth's surface relatively to other such matter; second, telling other people to do so.

I have a lot of respect for the Christians who has the guts to stand up for what they believe, backs up their arguments and basically 'puts up a good fight'. Sadly, there are very few of them I have met... You promised me the ending would be clear

Well, perhaps argument was the wrong word, how about 'debate' or 'discussion'. I agree that sometimes it isn't worth the trouble. Personally I was raised as a Lutheran and so had quite a bit of exposure to the Bible and it's various passages.
I may not think of it as the end-all of religion, but it does have some worthwhile lessons within it, as long as one doesn't get overly literal about things.

| Where I live... It is the Christians who are, overall "feared". They make up the majority of the population and I have experienced and seen many times when Christians, one or many, had stood and beaten down someone who just "looked" as if they were non-Christian. In my opinion, from my experiences... I have the Respect for anyone who is of any religion, that is not related to the bible, to stand up and fight against these so-called worshipers of the Bible and God *spits*. Sadly, There are few of them I have met...Me and my roommate are among the few that I do know.
Sometimes I think... That it would be nice if people would just except everyone elses religion. I have no problem with any person of the Christian religion until they preach to me, tell me I am wrong, or they insult me for my beliefs. I have plenty of Christian friends... But they have the decency and understanding to respect others beliefs as well as mine. And I do the same towards them. But unfortunatly...The occurance of a relationship that I have between my Christian friends and I is very rare.

I had a religion course or something like it in college where we read various pieces of the bible. Then on my own time I took it upon myself to read the rest. I found it educational for discussions.

anyway, if you like learning a lot about religions the bible is another book to read. I want to live in a world of peace

Yup... Read it, studied it and even know Biblical Greek. For whatever that is worth. Yea yea yea... I know I'm a pointy headed nerd.
In my opinion it is an important read. You really can't understand 20th Century literature without at least some understanding of the Bible... It also is the basis for an awful lot of our culture. And many of the awful parts of our culture.
What's really fun is know their book better than they know it... You can play with their minds.
And the teachings of Jesus as recorded in the NT are radical and very worth while... One the other hand the Apostle Paul was an arrogant misogynist.
Personally I am an advocate for reading as much as you can lay your hands on. Then you can take what you like
