I think that there are multiple planes of activity, and ghosts, etc. are just personalities on other planes.

I'll answer my own question(getting used to it by now)

I do believe there is a difference between all the entitities...first of ghosts are the most common, for whatever reason they are unable to leave, whether it be that they were murdered, a lost love or just don't realize they are dead...

Spooks, I'm not sure about, sure about, I just like the whole spooky theme...and I'm just awfully fond of spectres(especially the green phospherant ones)Poltergeist don't really have a manifestation they just throw things, and parapsychologists still aren't really sure if they are a spiritual entity or an unhappy kid with esp...Banshees too are a favorite, but I'm not sure if they are a spirit or a fairy...

So come on people, help me expand my mind...

Oh, I believe in ghosts...I've never seen a ghost, but I've met spirits...several times. I've got a few that lives with me, actually...follows me when I move. They are bound to me, not the house. I've also met place-bound spirits...some of them can be quite amusing...as long as you're not dealing with a cleptomaniac key- and wallet-loving little thing...that's a hassle...

I would think there would be a difference between them, but I have no idea. I do believe they exist. I've had a few encounters with spirits/ghosts and I also have friends who have.

I believe in them all, Demons included.

Ghosts are the Etheric life force of the Dead. It is apperently the energy that is one step down from physical, ectoplasim(sp?)

Spectures(sp?) are the representives of Death, and the Undead, are ingeneral soul Drinkers and Life eaters. Check out Wraiths, Bean sidhe and Shadow Walkers(I think thats the name of them) for more info. Usually Black and grey tones, dressed in rags, seem to be stick thin, with a shadowed face.

Spooks, are a form of Lesser spirit, mostly mishcevious. Aren't really sapient, but some are. Not really sure where they come from, or what they are. Just that they tend to spend there time creeping people out, making noises and just rushing past them, giving them chills. Some poltergiest activity as well.

Specters can also be Phospherescent Green...... I am.... though several names exist for Specters.... Specter or Spectre is my fav.... they can also be called revenates, spooks, or shades.... hence my signature name here in DF..... Dyshade..... Ghosts are very ethereal and cannot really interact with the living beyond become apparent to them.... hence the other widely used name for these Type A spirits..... Apparitions.... these type are usually harmless.... unless you have a heart condition that is... hehe... Poltergiests are Type B spirits.... capable of manipulating items around them and sometimes causing physical harm to the living through manipulating these objects.... they can also cause liquids to boil or freeze..... otherwise these spirits cannot manipulate the living...... just remember to duck when they toss stuff at you... thier aim is no better or worse than a living beings..... Type C Spirits are Spectres..... these are the most dangerous types as they can manipulate the flesh causing wounds to open or blood to flow.... as well as the rare ones that can actually siphon bits of life energy from a living being.....(Note: I do not believe that another living being can siphon this energy from a living being... if you want an explanation as to why let me know ) Specters can come in all colors of the rainbow as they can easily do all that Type A and B spirits can including manipulating the image of them that you see...... the older the spirit the more so it can manipulate its field of expertise....... an older ghost can cause sheer panic from its well crafted illusions..... an older poltergiest can lift and move larger items....... such as a bed....(Thinks of that Excorcist scene) or a dresser..... an older Specter can easily cause wounds to appear where ever on the body and in what ever largesse it wants.... such as Stigmata (thinks about that dumb Stigmata movie.... they really should have shown her nude dammit)

I've met a couple of these (I think ) While I've never touched one, they have a real physical presence and manipulate objects as we would down to the level of squeaking floorboards, leaving footprints etc.

Or could that have been a really convincing type C?

humans can only see a certain range of light and waves and what have you...what says that there cant be other things living outside of our preseption on our own planet???

i do believe in ghost and ect. i used to live in a house that had a few. they were not mean or anything and kept relativly to themselves. i could feel when they were in the room tho. one had a very odd birthmark on his face. about half of it was purple and he liked to scare me when i was at the computer by having his head pop up out of the floor *l*

Perhaps an older one that has developed personality traits.... I do believe in my rating system..... and I have seen manifestations of all three Types...... call me crazy if you will.... yet I am one of those that need actual sighting to believe.....

Dy, I think your rating system is pretty good and I know type Bs and Cs squeak floorboards anyway just to freak people out but the couple I've seen seemed to have real weight and to be solid, or I suppose they could have been manipulatiing my perceptions...

on topic: I was raised up in this subject(I guess you could say)but like most childhood experiences you kind of just get guided away by adulthood. Recently my interests have been restored and just curious what other takes are on the spirit world...

We used to have two spirits in our house, my dad said they were guardians...fred was more the protector and george was more of a playmate...he would go around turning the tv up or spinning lampshades or talking for hours with my brother, fred was the one who stood back in the shadows and scare people(if he didn't like them). I just wonder what would have happened to them and if, like as I asked can be assigned or if it is more like a summoning?

Spirits tend to have free will where that is concerned..... if one takes on the responsibility of guirdianship it is because of what ever reasons that only they may know..... you could of course always ask them..... though it would be rare to get a reply that you could understand.... now as Fero pointed out one can ask a spirit to guard over another..... though as to whether or not they do it is all according to that spirits motivations..... I have heard that spirits can be manipulated through the strength of Will alone... I do doubt this except for particular circumstances.... just because they do not have bodies does not mean that they are powerless.... they also have unique Wills.... this is all that they really have left.... it could also be stipulated that spirits gain strength the longer they adhere to the living world.... gaining in potency and power to rise above such clas distinctions that I have given them..... yet an angry spirit will ALWAYS display its most aggressive power...... in the case of a Type A it might craft an illusion to scare the living shit out of you..... a Type B might begin to move your entire living room around.... possibly even shaking your house to its foundations.... a Type C might cause many large wounds to open all at once on a poor unsuspecting individual..... or even in some cases suck the life right out of you until nothing is left....

Actually I really do believe in other that stuff cause one night I was over at my boyfriends house and one wrapped its cold arms around me and nearly froze me to death. Then it walked through me and left it's little marks on my arms. After that it walked over to my fiance and started messing with him. Wicked shit!! We then snuck up stairs and had to wait in the safe room for awhile which ghosts cannot enter and then when we did start upstairs it followed after us and went into the closet and sat and watched us. It later went away.
