Let's gist up FEMA
Once the President gives the okay(nobody can veto this? WTF?!) FEMA can do whatever the hell it wants and pretty much governmentally speaking there's nothing anybody can do about it.


Who else thinks this should be removed, or power restricted or restrained in some manner? Like Congress AND the President having to agree on FEMA's activation, not to mention the ability for Congress or the President to veto any actions by FEMA, thereby making it so FEMA can't just go: "Okay, we is in charge you all shut the hell up or we send you to concentration camps"

And people wonder why I'm paranoid, CIA will even take out our own poloticians(sp?), but at least there is a way, if not overly effective, to govern their operations, but FEMA once they are given the go, It's their decision no one elses when they hand back control over the nation. They have way to much power and it defintly should be regulated more. Even though I don't like congress or polotics for that matter, but I do believe that we should give them more control over FEMA.

I would say that the U.S. government's power needs to be held in check by the American people.
We really need to empower ourselves.

Currently America is a Representative Democracy.
We're supposed to select representatives who then decide on laws and such.
To empower the citizens themselves you'd be making it closer to a pure Democracy.

I just wish the people in charge of our country were more open(as in what they pay to who and where, and so on and so forth) not to mention the overall power was balanced out better..such as with this FEMA crap.

I'm sure that I had heard FEMA mentioned before but I had never seen anything on the scope of it's power.

I beleive FEMA stands for Federal Emergancy Managment Agency (Thats with out much reseach as of late.) In result of a drastic emergancy they can be given controll of an area of the U.S. and institute Martial Law. If a large natural disaster was wide enough they could put the entire nation under martial law, without any restaints on when it would go back to a representitve democracy. What happens if someone slightly off there rocker is given that power by mistake? What if they enlist the help of a power hungry Military official? What about any possible conspiracy s already ineffect?

I really don't trust this brach of the government and if they are given control of the area I'm in I will have to flee the area, not the country mind you... I just don't want to be under their jusidiction.

being that i am in boy scouts and venture crew, i spend alot of my timeon the fema sites and the other such recources as the emi (emergency management institute) and the american red cross is tied into this.... alot of the free help and services could be cut as well, but private citizens are welcome to participate in fema operations........

i do believe and agree they should not become the powerhouse. everyone is so worried about the natons security, but no one seems ot remember the nation is people and we have to be secure......

FEMA cannot get power unless something greater than 9-11 happens.. Thats the check/balance for it.. And when the crisis passes, the power gets removed the same way it was given.. It can't keep the power going without the emergency that activated it's power..

Look at Cali.. they get fema going almost every year with mudslides, earthquakes, fires, ect... They are given the power as a central control power.. They say Jump, the others jump..LOL

But honestly... Given the choice of having half a dozen committies trying to decide what to do, or 1 group saying "your group works on this, that group does that, and keep us informed", i would choose the latter.. FEMA Has been around for decades, just went unnoticed is all...

Yes, they do do alot of good, but like many others in this world i suffer from paranoia, and sometimes can't help my self.

all FEMA needs is a national emergency. then they can do whatever they want with everyone.

Zarcoff - have you ever played the original Deus Ex? that game is fucking creepy. FEMA, and MJ-12 get in cahoots with a the CEO of a huge corporation, and start a grab for the world. and all it took was a manufactured virus becoming a national epidemic, and some little bits of "vaccine" being flaunted here and there, for black mail.
it's all disturbingly realistic in concept, with a deliciously twisting, turning, storyline and it's got an interesting RPG/FPS cross breed premise. you should absolutely check it out.
