Join Date: Aug 2006 | The FDA put a label on an antidepressant that may or may not have killed 2000 people -
02-06-07
Lets face it people make mistakes but what I'm about to show you is rediculous, as a warning, the government put labels on antidepressant medication saying that it can make adolescents suicidal, causing what I assume parents that decided against it, causing what appears to be 2000 extra suicides. What do you think, are you with me or against me http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16996417...15773?GT1=9033 and yes i had to type that in manually what is with the copy and paste on this site? I worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 10 years, during that time I took several drugs for depression, none of them worked or if they did the effect went away over time. Part of the problem is that western medicine treats symptoms not causes. Since I started working in organic food I’m completely pharmaceutical free and all of my health problems have gotten better. I don’t think kids need drugs for depression, they need healthy food and exorcize. I hope this doesn’t offend you, unless your a plain belly sneetch.

They're just covering themselves for the potential law court-happy parent whos neurotic child attached themselves to the family cat with a pitchfork.
Putting the warning there is basically just a disclaimer. The government dosent really give a shit otherwise. As long as you're paying taxes and vote for them next time. and let me rephrase that, i do drink alcohol occasionally which is considered a drug, i think. and I smoke unfortunately but i'm quitting that soon. anything that bleeds for seven days and doesn't die, must be evil.

I have multiple sclerosis. I'm on a wide variety of medication, the main 3 of which are Rebif, baclofen, and a large dosage of Ibuprofen.
The Rebif is an interferon that works with my body to lessen the frequency and severity of my attacks. Without it I would never be able to lead a normal lifestyle, as an exacerbation can occur at any time. Possibly a debilitating one that could leave me in a wheelchair or using a really snazzy pimp cane at the ripe old age of 22. The baclofen is a muscle relaxer to alleviate painful hand spasms. And the ibuprofen I take so injecting myself with the Rebif isn't as painful and to help with the side effects of the rest of the medication.
I'm also taking multi-vitamins, flaxseed oil, and consuming less than 1200 calories a day.
I'm all for herbal medicine, but genetic diseases are something no herb in the world is going to be able to help. In Memory of the Busby Babes :

oh i don't think your picking on me. you just like to argue every little point to death because you are miserable and that is quite evident.
Did you know that even genetic diseases are preventable? You are capable of reprogramming your DNA.. this statement will annoy you and possibly piss you off. However, I cannot help it if you are among the many who think that you have no control over your being, and you just accept your illness because some doctors told you it was an incurable genetic disease. I won't be coming back to this forum any more. It is a waste of my time and energy trying to say anything here. When people try to state their opinions or ideas they get yelled at because they don't conform to your idea of the way things are supposed to be. and if they don't agree with what you are trying to force down peoples throats with obnoxious and arrogant remarks you all get even angrier and swear at them and call them names.. I hope you are all happy here in your little world of self doubt and hatred. I won't be subjecting you to my posts any longer, so have a nifty little celebration post now that i'm gone, better yet if you IGNORE me that will really get me good eh? Hope you find plenty of little noobs to boss around so you can all feel a little more secure about your own lives. anything that bleeds for seven days and doesn't die, must be evil.

Wow. Hyper-sensitive much?
How about instead of shitting a brick and playing the "you're all mean; I'm a victim" card you provide me some evidence as to how I can reprogram my DNA? Perhaps an alternative source of relief for my condition? I'd gladly welcome the advice, as I'm a little tired of shelling out thousands of dollars for my current regimen.
Amazing that billions and billions of dollars are spent every year on disease research and trying to find a cure for things like AIDS, cancer, etc, and they've yet to find it.
But a girl from the internet has solved the issues that have plagued researchers, geneticists, and doctors for decades. In Memory of the Busby Babes :

Some conditions seem to be resolved or at least controlled by chemical means. However, I do have to agree with haomdi that there are a lot of non-medication things that can be done to help with symptoms and/or progressions in various health conditions but many people do not do so. Nutrition is a big factor, for one. Many people these days are about convenience and say they don't want to be bothered with dealing with blahblahblah. It gets frustrating sometimes in some situations hearing people complain about their health, but once you suggest doing something that requires a little more effort than popping a pill, or god forbid you suggest they make a lifestyle change, then it's asking too much.
In my personal experience, after dealing with conditions requiring medications for several several years, I am now taking no medication and decided to go alternative routes. Truthfully, it's worked swimmingly for me and I feel better than I ever have and feel I made the absolute right decision.
I also believe it's up to the individual to decide that for themselves (how they would like to handle their health). Not that I wouldn't do my best to convince them to try something different or add on something that would work well with their current health regimen, but I would respect that person's right to choose their game plan. And I can buy that.
I'm personally on a mixture of natural and synthetic remedies. I keep to organic foods, fresh juice, about 1000 mg of supplemental vitamins a day. I stay away from caffeine, drink green tea, and use flaxseed in my cereal. And again.. on a strict diet of 1200 calories a day or less. But I'm afraid all those things combined will only put a dent in my condition. They help with my energy levels, which is awesome. But no fruit, herb, oil in the world is going to protect my brain and spinal cord from lesions and deterioration. In Memory of the Busby Babes :

If you research it, you'll find that aspirin is not synthesized, it is a natural plant extraction.. It seems that even after 80 years, they still can't reproduce it chemically!
Thats one of the reasons they keep saying it's 'bad for you' LOL Beware the ex's.. They ARE out to get you... Nice guys finish last It isn't just a saying.. It's a fact of life! Those things that produced your ex......you know, the bitchmakers! Metagion

I believe they're called Celadon something at about $50 a bottle. My neurologist recommended them. It says "dietary supplement" on the label, and they include at least your recommended daily allowance of each vitamin and nutrient. That might be why they're dark green, almost black, and smell like hamster food.
Besides, you'd be amazed at what you can eat. For instance, an apple is only 80 calories. A pack of raisins only 60. A lean ham and american cheese sandwich on wheat less than 300. Salad, grilled fish, organic fruit. I just stay way from stuff with lots of sugar, soda, coffee, caffeinated tea, and that eliminates a good portion of the average American's calorie intake.
