The recommended daily calorie intake for women is about 2000. So it's not that low. The problem is most people are used to consuming several times that in a day, so the prospect of actually eating healthy seems daunting.
I don't see why you're all so shocked. I eat 3 full meals a day. Sometimes a snack mid-afternoon. I don't starve. I just eat healthy foods. It wouldn't kill anyone to lower their intake. You actually feel MORE energized than when you're sitting around like a lump.
And the reasoning behind "her" low intake is the healthier I am, the less pain and fatigue I feel. In Memory of the Busby Babes :

WL: Actually it is pretty low, though I do agree about the part that many people are used to consuming several times that in a day. Most people don't know what a serving size actually looks like or what they actually need to have. It's good that if you are going to keep your intake on the low side that you are eating things that are high in nutritive content. Quality does matter.
As far as why you stick within that calorie range, I would have guessed more along the lines that it had to do with your activity levels vs. your energy levels. I'm currently studying anatomy/physiology and along with what I've studied independently over the years and experimented with myself I do know some things, but I wasn't sure about how it related with MS ( I only had a brief "going-over" with MS while doing nervous system studies). See, I learned something new, so thank you for the information.
Also, I apologize if I sounded like I was talking about you like you were a third party that wasn't there (the 'her'). I was responding to Shadowborn's comment.
Back on topic, it's hard for them to prove that either way, since I've heard countless times both arguments that that particular class of psychotropic drugs: a) causes these things to happen; b) prevents them from happening. Psychopharmacology is scarier than a lot of other types of medicine because they really don't know what a particular drug will or won't affect until the person takes it. It's not cut and dried like in how you take an aspirin and it helps inflammation, or even heart meds, etc., especially when you consider that whatever happens in your brain drives your entire body. It's not confined to a localized condition or to a specific problem necessarily, and even if it were in most cases that would be hard to detect even with the technology that we have nowadays. I also believe that in a lot of cases where the medication isn't working at all or seems to be making things worse instead of better that that is not what the person needs anyway. I think part of the reason some people eat so much is that there’s so little nutritional value to the food they eat, there are over weight people that suffer form malnutrition. I find if I eat healthy and exorcise, and chew my food I can reduce my intake by 20% to 30% with out losing weight or energy.
There’s a time and place for modern medicine (like a compound fracture) but I’ll always try some thing natural first. I think modern medicine has a long way to go. My Dad had the vanes connected to his heart replaced with vanes from his leg, his heart valves were replaced with pig valves, and had a pace maker implanted to get the timing right. All very amazing things, but they never cured the problem. Currently modern medicine can help you live with a problem but rarely cure it. I hope this doesn’t offend you, unless your a plain belly sneetch.

Since I worked in the pharmaceutical industry thought I would let you in on some things they don’t want you to know
1. The high price of drugs comes from the expense of research. False! Much of the research comes from your taxes. The largest expense in making drugs is advertising and upper management.
2. It’s unsafe to import drugs into the US due to quality. False? Many of the active ingredients are all ready imported (extracting active indergreadents is much! Harder then making a tablet.
3. Chemically created vitamins are just as good as natural vitamins. False! Many chemically created vitamins are not recognized by the body, you pay you piss them away.
4. The pharmaceutical industry has the largest number of lobbyist. True! At least 2 for every congress person. I hope this doesn’t offend you, unless your a plain belly sneetch.

I'd rather live with my problem than not live at all.
Modern medicine amazes me. And I'm all for trying the natural route, but the simple fact is:
Sometimes it just doesn't work. Simple as. And unfortunately people use the gullibility of others and the current trend of organic foods and herbal remedies to fleece sick niggas out their moneez.
Like the bee sting thing. I know a lady that actually tried beestings as a remedy for MS because she heard it about... god knows where. She was paying hundreds of dollars a week on live bees then stinging herself with them, swearing that they helped boost her energy.
Well guess what. They popped her up for about 5 minutes. Then she felt shittier. Go figure. In Memory of the Busby Babes :

Nothing wrong with wanting to live, I just wish modern medicine would spend more time finding cures then treatments.
I think we should have Billy take care of the fleecing He seems to be a good shot. I hope this doesn’t offend you, unless your a plain belly sneetch.

That might be why they're dark green, almost black, and smell like hamster food.
Besides, you'd be amazed at what you can eat. For instance, an apple is only 80 calories. A pack of raisins only 60. A lean ham and american cheese sandwich on wheat less than 300. Salad, grilled fish, organic fruit. I just stay way from stuff with lots of sugar, soda, coffee, caffeinated tea, and that eliminates a good portion of the average American's calorie intake. | See, you just lost me at the the lack of caffiene, though that doesn't contribute significantly to caloric intake anyway...it's all the sugar and milk that people throw into it. Me, I'm fat-free milk and Splenda guy, so I can have my morning pick-me-up guilt free.
As for calories, if i can keep my intake at around 2000 a day, 5 days in seven, I'm a happy camper. Of course, I'm also not fighting off any major diseases either. Shadowborn To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

I think we should have Billy take care of the fleecing He seems to be a good shot. | I can't speak for all long-term illnesses, but MS has amazing fund raising efforts with all the money directly funneled into disease research to find a cure. A bit of it goes to programs that help provide low-income patients with equipment they need but can't afford, like wheelchairs, canes, handicap accessible vans. But in the meantime, we have to have a way to treat it, or life would be very hard for those of us afflicted.
But unfortunately, a lot of so-called researchers are merely biding their time. I have a theory that they're in league with the drug companies to delay finding cures for these things, because once they have one... the revenue generated from these medications would be drastically decreased.
I don't care how conspiracy theory-esque that sounds. In Memory of the Busby Babes :

The companies I’ve worked for some times made drugs the weren’t profitable but it was usually to dominate a nitch market, or under sell the competition, in one case it was to piss off the CEO of an other company that our CEO had gotten in to an argument with in collage.

Well guess what. They popped her up for about 5 minutes. Then she felt shittier. Go figure. | The original one that i know of was an article in Readers Digest in the later '70s. It stated that multiple bee stings helped arthritis reduction.
My grandfather tried it while i was there on my summer vacation one year..
