And Americans think that the world will thank them for this once it's "all over"... that's just it though is it will more than likely never be 'all over'
The world is not a perfect place and I have little to no doubt that once they've finished with Iraq they will most likely find another horribly run country to decide to 'liberate'. Sweet ideas granted, however while it is wonderful that Bush is doing "so much" for these other countries, what is he doing for his own?

Indeed, though how he can possibly consider murder as liberating. Is he god? Does he consider himself such? So when a criminal appears in an American court, after having slaughtered and butchered his neighbours, he can use the defence of:
"Well... they may have done the same, so I took precautionary measures. Besides, he has some tools in his shed that could have been dangerous to the whole neighbourhood, and he had some extra cans of oil stashed away. I was running out of oil, so hey, I just took it.
And when the judge says:
You cannot do that, it is unlawful and illegal, surely the murderer can reply:
"But my leader did exactly the same, why can't I?!"

I cannot believe that people can condone the behaviour that led Saddam to the power he has now..... the US never lined hundreds of innocent civilians up in front of pits and shot them all.... Saddam has..... he also went into another country (Kuwait) and tortured and murdered hundreds of civilians.... if you condone this sort of behaviour than the person condoning is no better than the man whos behaviour they condone.... and sitting on your ass allowing it to happen is as good as condoning it....
It is funny that Saddam can slaughter thousands and noone says a word.... and yet when the US goes to kill him and accidentally kills some civilians you guys get all crazy..... somewhere in there is a great sense of irony.... Exactly...
Canada's Prime Minister Jean Chretien got cheered and a standing ovation when he announced his decision to NOT participate in the war.
England's Prime Minister Tony Blair had members of his own cabinet resign around him, when he announced his decision to go through and participate in the war.
Australia's Prime Minister John Howard will not be getting re-elected either, for while the Australian men are out there because they have no other choice once given orders, the Australians are not supportive of this war. Neither are the British. So when the extremely large majority of the world is against this war, the US is awfully arrogant to think that we will all bow scrape and thank once it's all over. I'm pretty sure the disgust with the tyranny of the American government shall be simply carry on much like it is now.

Its also a very big possibility that Sadam did all that himself to those people. Hes tortured, gassed, shot, and killed his own people and the Kurds before.
Im not sticking up for the cassualties, nomatter how many occur in a war, but thats a fact.
Are all you anti-war people thinking the USA is some hideous monster out to crush everyone and everything?
The USA has done more (good) for the world as a whole than any other nation. Period. And you people who are booing our nation right now should be ashamed of yourselves.
I bet when this whole thing is over there are going to be alot of people saying I told you so. Gaia impaled on their horns and their lances
the fumes from her body give chase
As the strong of blind men savour the scent,
dream dead from prosaic and hate

ride into tommorrows rigid great face
the machinary outlives the futile scripts
of our dying Jester race

Actually, you could completely reverse this logic to the opposite point (which, as I've mentioned elsewhere, is a sign that you're using false logic). I could easily say, "Well, if no one has the right to force Iraq to obey international law, or to pay the consequences for not doing so, then how can a federal government have the right to force it's citizens to obey federal law, or to pay the consequences for not doing so?" When people talk of the freedom of writing, speaking or thinking I cannot choose but laugh. No such thing ever existed. No such thing now exists; but I hope it will exist. But it must be hundreds of years after you and I shall write and speak no more.

The first point to be made is that nations do not like each other as a rule. There are exceptions, but they are rare. It is unusual for any country to have more than 3 or 4 other countries where both the governments and the people of the countries can see eye to eye with each other. Therefore, saying that policy should be formed based on international policy is initially flawed. Furthermore, that public opinion is casually exchanged in an argument with what is morally right is a sign of the degraded state of logic used in our society. Most people considered Churchill a war-monger for wanting to stop Hitler. Public opinion should never be trusted as a compass for change, because whenever people at large are given the option of a) Do something new, or b) Keep things the way they are, they will always, always, always, always, always, always, always choose option b. But sometimes change is good, and sometimes it's even necessary.
Lastly, the last thing America has a right to do is to ignore the rest of the World and focus on it's own people. I thought the problem the rest of the World had with us was that we were fat and greedy? How would being more selfish change this? If we cared only for our own nation, we would tighten our grip as the World's only superpower, rather than encouraging growth in other countries, keep our food and resources to ourselves, rather than sending aid to impoverished nations, and keep our military home, rather than helping out those who aren't strong enough to fight for themselves. If anything, I think that the US has more of an obligation to use it's power for good than it's currently fulfilling. When people talk of the freedom of writing, speaking or thinking I cannot choose but laugh. No such thing ever existed. No such thing now exists; but I hope it will exist. But it must be hundreds of years after you and I shall write and speak no more.

Work is of two kinds: first, altering the position of matter at or near the earth's surface relatively to other such matter; second, telling other people to do so.

And your example is quite correct..... we disarm criminals here in the US when they commit Armed Robbery.... while on probation a Felon cannot possess any fire arms..... Saddam committed armed robbery of a Nation.... we attempted to disarm him for 13 years and it did not work.... so now he faces the consequences of his actions....
