What philosophical notions come to your Monkey brains at the mention of this Word. It can be defined many ways. What would be your definition. Do the ideals of Good and Evil sway your Moral judgement. Can you even have Morality without those two intrinsic Ideals.

I am interested in your thoughts.

Evil to me is violating something that is innocent...destroying what a person has no right to destroy...that's really all I view as evil!

Evil and Good are measures of morality, without them morality cannot exist. Evil actions are actions which bring more harm to other people than the help brought by the action. Good is the opposite.

Evil... Evil and good are concepts, they exist only in one's perception on reality. I must always smile, when it is written the attacks on the WTC are "evil". To many they are. To some they are not.

I rarely make use of these concepts.

yes... good and evil are constructs of society aimed to stigmatize deviant acts... music, televsion, and dancing is "evil" in some soceities... of course to most here in the States, they are "good" beyond compare... i agree Aet... perception is the key

I'd like to get all depressing now and say that there is no ultimate evil...

We are about as low as it gets.
What I have seen we people do to each other are things so terrible that Satan would be taking lessons from us...
Face it, people...can you think of anything that is trully more evil than us?
The Church made Satan to scare their sheep, and Satanists work in Satan's name to have someone to blame when they get caught...

But, exactly in the reverse...I have never seen anything do deeds more holy or kind than what we can do to each other...

And so WE are both the Ultimate Evil, and Ultimate Good...and all we have is the choice on which side of the line to walk.

Not really, mihpares. I must refer to my example. Do you think of the WTC attacks as evil? Probably you do, I will assume so for a moment. Now, there are muslim fundamentalists out there who find this the most beautiful moment out of their entire life...

Another example. Some women might despise other women selling themselves. Yet I know many a person, man and woman, that has no problem with this...

Good and evil are subjective to the very core. They depend on how one view the world. Often even dependant on the moment of asking, or even the way of asking. So to the cold, emotionless out there: Good and evil does not exist.

You asked what comes to my mind at that word...that is what comes to my mind...If a person does the same things you have done...then they are evil...they would go to hell...

And I do believe you can feel compassion...anything with an essence can feel empathy for another creature...however they don't always have control...
