So i go scroilling through the "whats on" on cable. and i come across a movie about the earth moving closer to the sun. causes death and destruction, etc..

And then i cross referanced, menatally, the earthquakes that have been going on.
And then the thought popped into my head, with mental image included, of the quakes happening in just the right way to 'insure' that the planet stays a certain distance from the sun.
Both sides of the planet. keeping us just 'so' far from that burning star that helps give us life...

I have to do the math. see when and where the last 100 or so major quakes have occured to get a starting point. Figure what effect it would/could have on our orbit if/when the mass shifts due to them. And work on it further.

But it seems like it might have some bearing on things.

Okies, so I've been trying to get the info together and do the spacial math involved.. Seems i don't have near enough programs on my comp to do all of that.
Maybe i'll just take the info and head up the U and let some kid do it as a project for his higher math project. Hell, i still get the credit right or wrong..

What i need to do...

1. location of the quakes-with mag. done
2. exact position of the earth at the time of said quake to plot relitive push it would give. working on it
3. exact distance from the sun the earth was at that moment. Maybe nasa could help LOL
4. same as above, but 30 mins after quake. to judge possible movement. Again, maybe i'll ask nasa.

Hell, this may have been done before. I dunno. haven't found anything about any studies done on it.

Interesting. Some of that info will be kind of hard to find, though...

I was watching a movie the other day about the sun depleting, we all know that it is constantly destroying itself and rebuilding itself, but in this movie it stopped rebuilding itself and the people from earth were sent to the sun to set off a bomb to help it continue to rebuild itself. It was pretty amazing, turned into a scientific thriller of sorts. I would suggest seeing it if I could remember its name. Ill see if I can google it and post the name in a few.

Like i posted. the only big problem is finding the exact position of the earth before and after the earquake..

You could try Geology Discipline, but it's just for the US.

The trick will be finding the exact position of earth at the times of the quakes.

Latest Earthquakes in the World - Past 7 days gives you the latest earthquakes (within the past seven days), and when you click on an individual seismic event, it gives you specific information about it.

This site, Astronomy, gives some formulas for finding the position.

This site, Earth's position on chosen date with respect to equinoxes, solstices and cross-quarters in chosen year, 2001-2020, is more for occult purposes, but will give an estimation of position by date and time.
