This makes the assumption that the only people who want to kill us are in the Middle East, and that everyone in the Middle East fits under this category. When people talk of the freedom of writing, speaking or thinking I cannot choose but laugh. No such thing ever existed. No such thing now exists; but I hope it will exist. But it must be hundreds of years after you and I shall write and speak no more.

Sure we got enemies the world over and at home. But the fact is that a resurgent Islam has decreed the USA to be "THE GREAT SATAN".

How about "forgetting about what we're actually talking about" crap?
Even ignoring your attempt to demonize Islam, neither yours nor mine post mentioned Islam in anyway. They both only referred to the Middle East. Though I find it sort of funny that many of the ones on the "Middle-East" list are also some of the biggest polluters...such as Exxon-Mobile (Esso).
Anyway, Six, you are generalizing. Its the extremists who want to kill us...the small group who ruins it for the larger body. DM is right...you're operation like its only the Middle East who wishes to kill us, and that EVERYONE in the Middle East wishes to kill us. Has Dubya brainwashed you so badly? Hey, bread is a good time for me...a-woodle-oo-doo, singing bread is a good time for EVERYbody...

Fact is that the Islamic Fundamentalists have been getting much of their money from the Saudi Royals.
We buy their oil and the Saudis then give some of that money to groups like Al Qaida. This has been discussed by many commentaters from across the political spectrum.
If anything, Bush and the rest of the Neo-conservatives wish to sweep this all under the carpet and keep it business as usual. Remember the first words out of Bush were "Islam is a religion of peace" right after the 911 attacks. Pretty weak if you ask me.
There have been the many suicide attacks against Americans and Jews by Islamic Fundamentalists since the early 1980's. There was the takeover of the US embassy in Iran back in 1979 by Islamic mobs led by the Ayatollah Khomeini. I am sure you must have forgotten the first attacks on the World Trade Center by muslims about ten years ago.
There is also the many wars going on everywhere in the world that Islam borders another culture. Central Asia, Philipenes, Indonesia, Africa, and the Balkans.
BTW, it was the muslims and not the Serbs who started the wars in Bosnia and Kosovo.
What we have is a resurgant Islam and things are just getting warm. It was like this when Islam first started to take over much of the medieval world before the Crusades slowed them down a bit.
I think you already know much of this, but are just too conditioned by PCism to admit what you already know. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. It's statements like this that take away from your credibility:
"You guys are just too conditioned by PCism to admit what you already know."
"Fact is that..."
I suggest taking a gander at the logical fallacies thread. Bismarck once said "Fools say they like to learn from their experiences, but I prefer to learn from the experience of others."

I suggest taking a gander at the logical fallacies thread. | Actually it is true that the terrorists have been getting much of their funding from Saudi Arabia.
Again, they know what is going on, but their PC conditioning will not let them critisize an enemy. Its always blame America first. "It is true" or "Fact is that" are not statements that will convince me of viability. I'd rather proof than your say so that it is true. And I don't criticize "my" enemies (aren't they the enemies of the country, not me in particular?) because it's quite obvious that I am against the already dead terrorists that caused the bombing and the still alive members that orchestrated the attacks. My problem comes from what is currently a reminder of McArthy; call someone a terrorist and the public believes you.
It's easier to criticize the US government because I know more about it. If I lived in another country, I'd probably despise their government just as much. Bismarck once said "Fools say they like to learn from their experiences, but I prefer to learn from the experience of others."

Why on Earth would the Saudi Royals want to support Al-Quaeda? Al-Quaeda's success would mean their downfall. That's why they banished Bin Laden. So you have no proof, and no motive. You can point out a few isolated instances, but that's it. And please, kindly inform me of these "wars" that are going on in Indonesia, or Tunisia, or Morroco, or Turkey. Dearie, saying that the middle east wants to kill us is like saying every american is like bush and i doubt most of us are...and even then there are people who hate this country people who don't give and damn and so forth what makes you think everyone in the middle east believes in islam dear god boy thing about the people around you...just because their countries are run by a religion or such of the like does not mean that they have to believe in it. is everyone in america a brainwashed flag waving nationalist? i don't think so dearie...there are many who see otherwise. think about that before you speak. | |

DeirdreMayfair,
You need to take a look at the news reports of the "Arab Street" sometime. Also take a look at the Islamic fundamentalist political parties that have been making gains all across much of the Islamic world. Even in Turkey we see the Islamic parties are making gains.
BTW, the Saudi's have been financing much of this. Its been on the news and our government is trying to work with the moderates there to end this. But I doubt that anything will really change until we stop buying their oil. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. White, middle-aged males are by far the most likely demograph to be a serial killer. Therefore, whenver a serial killer is on the loose, all white, middle-aged males should have to go through special security checks, cavity searches, and endure the uneducated accusations of internet flame-trolls with too much time on their hands. When people talk of the freedom of writing, speaking or thinking I cannot choose but laugh. No such thing ever existed. No such thing now exists; but I hope it will exist.
