I disagree and dog are more work. I was a owner of 2 dogs and I can't go away the weekend becasue you can't leave the dogs alone at home for more than a day. you can with the cats.

I work at an animal shelter for abandoned cats and dogs, mainly work with the cats, but sometimes dogs too.
And I can tell you this, if they want to be vicious....dogs and cats are quite equal in their meanness.

my cat fubar did lots of tricks, i'd bounce a ball off the floor and he'd jump 3 feet in the air and bat it with his paw and send it flying across the room. i had a matress leaned up against the wall and he'd lay up there with his paw hangin down, i'd throw up a hackie sack and he'd catch it. he was very loyal to me too.

I have had a lot of cats.. and a lots of dogs...
.. both are fucking annoying as hell if you dont have a good one... ankle biters need to be put down forever.. I used to raise Rotwielers... and I have had my cats all my life.. they both kick ass.. .but cats are definately better company sometimes cause they actually have SOME intellagance... and they do care as much as they make you think that they dont.... anyways... We have 4 cats in this house... Flamer --Flame point siamese. Panda -- Another siamese although we think she has some burmese mixed in with her. Miracle -- Domestic medium hair... she's psychotic looking. It's really quite cool actually. And Screamer -- Domestic long hair... he likes to terrorize panda, be a lazy shit, and gets off on watching my roommate's friends climb the walls when he brings snakes into the house.

Unfortunately the snake thing seems to get along good with all the other cats, so now we have like 24/7 snake patrol in the house, and if you look down our hallway, there's towels bunched up in front of all the doorways so that the snakes can't get into our bedrooms.

My roommate's daughter and I decided that we want dogs next, because we can take them for walks, train them to do tricks, and they won't bring snakes en masse into the house either. lol
