I think people need to step back and look at what's going on here...

The main problem I'm seeing is clashing (and by this, uncompromising) perspectives. Some are personal, some are political, some are ignorant and some are jealous and some are pompous. What makes a people: nation-state or the people?

Regardless, every country and its citizens have their faults, uses, weaknesses and corruption and order and good food. And hot women. And bad spellers.

Disassociation is an amazing skill to avoid succuming to hate. The world can be a really big place at times...

Those kids never grew up with electricity so they hardly miss it. Most of them join the army or work at factory's so they can move to the big city because its 'less boring' like any teenage kid would say that grew up on a farm.

I'm secure in the knowledge that I like where I live. I know I'll wake up tomorrow, eat my Cocoa Puffs and drive to work in my personal vehicle, where I'll spend the day in comfort and further security while earning a very healthy wage, which I'll use to spend on luxury items such as shoes and jewelry. Then I'll drive myself back to my 3 story home on the lake, curl up and watch one of my 900 digital cable channels on my giant plasma screen television, or maybe play one of my 5 video game consoles. I'll go into my state-of-the-art kitchen and open my stainless steel fridge with the tv on it, and take out a beer, and then go back to doing absolutely nothing until time to go to sleep.

As far as I'm concerned, the rest of the world can eat my ass. America is the shit.

Billy really makes the rest of us look bad. I understand his point, but he states it in such an arrogant way, he's only proving what everyone else out there already thinks, that all Americans are arrogant. Europe isn't insignifigant, the euro is kicking the dollar's ass at the moment, most european economies are growing very rapidly, while America slowly slips to the shallow end of the pool. This worries me. I really do love my country, but I see some bad trends starting.

As history has shown us, super powers never stay super forever, and as far as the world's past superpowers go, 230 years isn't very long,and we're already starting fall apart...

The dollar is in a slump and the Euro (highly unstable) is winning right now. It means nothing. Our economy is going through a down turn, we had a whole long era of extra prosperity in the 90s, like all economies it comes in waves of good and bad. The economy is going to rebound eventually and the euro will dip under again and we will be back to where we always are.

Again the Europeans dont need examples of policies or people to hate the US, they would do it anyway because they are jealous of the US's power and significance. If Europe is so significant youll have to explain how. They are pretty much token allies to anyone. They have no power anymore.

My national pride includes the fact that we're a haven to immigrants. Believe it or not, I think diversity is a really good thing.
