I was watching this show called "Crossing over, with Jonathan Edward" and this guy stands in a room full of people and dead people channel their energy through him and make contact with people in the audience through him.. my ? is do you believe in the afterlife AND do you believe dead people can/do contact us through people?

I believe in afterlife. I believe the dead contact us. But they do it in their own way, not through "messengers."

I hate these polls cos the question is always so yes/no. How about a neither?

Personally I have trouble believing that the dead are contactable.

If life is a force of energy then when we die what happens? All energy transmutes doesn't it, it never disappears so when we die our energy must transmute into something else. What that is remains a mystery but with so many texts on reincarnation i think that could be a distinct possibility.

So when we die I'm more inclined to believe that we simply pass onto another state (be that coming back here again or moving on (enlightenment?)) so that would mean that they are not contactable because they are no longer 'here'.

However, being a skeptic I am keeping an open mind.

"Crossing over, with Jonathan Edward" That guy is a boob. He's good at a guessing game and a bad example for anyone who practices the mystical arts. I know that there are people that can talk to the dead. I beleive. But mark my words...Jonathan is a goober.

votes yes on the goober and yes on the contacting...but it's hard to distinguish the spirits from the voices and the visions from hallucinations

I think...that "Jonathan Edward" is a doped up surrealist with a little too much time on his hands..

However...I do believe..well..not believe, but think, rather..that contacting the dead is possible..but not as he does it..seems more of a scam than any actual spiritual arts..

Yes, I do believe it is possible to contact the dead, including the way Goober does it and more. It's obvious that his way is mostly guess work from piecing together what the willing victems tell him, and I wouldn't put it past him to research into all his guests histories as well, but I know it is possible for spirits to contact using a medium of sorts among other sources. The possibilies are endless.

Well, I'd have to say no, because I think all things that go dead lost their soul or spirit call them what you want. Or maybe I'm just saying that because I fear the unknown, well that's a human behavior fearing the unknown.

i don't believe in spirits or ghost or anything, but i do kind of like the idea that after one dies, their mind does not die, since i think it is evident that cells and what not still live......so maybe, after death, one goes into dreaming....what if someone alive just had a way to see these dreams?

Contacting with the dead IS possible, since the people who live leave behind trace electrical fields in their wake during the more extreme periods of their life. This means that the electrical fields which run throughout our bodies leave behind an imprint of ourselves, thereby creating a "ghost".

What they do on shows such as crossing over is NOT real, however, since it has been proven that a complete fraud who admitted to being fake can get far better accuracy then mr. crossing over.

I don't know if it is possible for us to "contact the dead", but I do think it is possible for the dead to contact a select few of us.

the dead are dead....and cant talk....so...contacting the dead is stupid...because you cant do it....only stupid people do things which they cant...

just for the record.. I don't believe in the way johnathan Edward contacts spirits.. that was just what brought me to this train of thought.. but yeah.. I do think spirits contact us in some ways. But I don't believe in seeing ghosts.. thats kinda silly
