Thanksgiving is a crap holiday. It's so close to Christmas, that it's not feasible to plan a trip to see my parents for both holidays. In my family, it's always been days of meal prep leading up to a half hour dinner. Then I'm forced to eat leftover ham for fucking WEEKS. I hate Thanksgiving.

We ain't having a Thanksgiving. Cuz too busy with the moving of my dads new office that week. Plus i leave like 3 days after for weeks for massive knee surgery.

And there isn't gonna be much of a Christmas cuz well we just aint cuz of above reasons. And no time to go shopping or do anything.

But i'm cool with it. Next year we will make up for it all times 10.

Was supposed to go to the Caribbean with the boyfriend and his mother but she backed out on us which is no good since she was gonna pay. Instead I'm going to eat some decent food with my family and enjoy my first real break since school started in August. (That one day "fall break" was total bull.) Oh, and watch the VT/UVA game with the boy this saturday. And I believe I'm going to get dragged out to go shopping with my mother and grandmother for Christmas. But mostly eat food that isn't campus food and that makes me go yay!

We don't do Thanksgiving in NZ, but sounds like a good excuse to eat.

Most of the time I'll be in Kona on the Big Island. Then 3 nights in Waikiki on Oahu.

Well my folks are gonna make the traditional guido thanksgiving meal turkey, potatos, primavera penne, and a nice marinara sauce with ematballs and maybe scungilli, which I hate.

Hopefully this year my girlfriend will make some Chinese stuff again to bring to my familys dinner. Luckily her folks dont celebrate many holidays so we can spend them all with mine.

Fuck you people. I wish all of you could come spend a holiday in Goose Creek, SC. At my grandma's house. She looks a lot like Jabba the Hut. You can watch my 5 year old cousins play poker and mix drinks. And then there's the infamous GOOSE CREEK BEER TREE. All the beer cans are hung by fishing line from the palmetto tree in the front yard. And then Jabba (AKA Grandma) complains for a few hours about how the Baptist preacher is going to see it and kick her out of the church.

And then my Aunt Darlene will say something like, "What an interesting shirt, Meaghan. Not something I would wear. Or anyone else. But it's definitely you. Very... cute. Thrift store?" And then I'll get pissed off and go take tequila shots with my brother behind the fireworks shed.

Then my fat cousin Stacey will do her stupid singing and dancing routine that she does every year. I'll drink more tequila.

Then we eat dinner. And I'm forced to sit at the children's table because I'm not married.

Around that time my brother gets so wasted that he can't function and starts crying about how his daddy's in prison and no one loves him. Mumbling will start.

Finally around 3 am, everyone passes out. And we eat ham for weeks.

Normal families have traditions.. carols, that egg and liquor drink that I hate, tree decorating, stringing fucking popcorn or some shit. Whatever kind of gay shit upper middle class suburban folk do.

Not mine. We play poker. And take shots. When it's just my mom, brother, and stepdad, and we don't have to pretend we love Jesus... our mealtime prayer consists of:

in our family, thanksgiving is pretty relaxed. we go to grandma's house, we eat, we nap... occasionally my sis and i fix a tofurkey... mmm tofurkey

Anyway, I'm not big on Thanksgiving. I think it's stupid, but umm..I'll probably get stuck going to my aunt's house so she can show off her "big house" that she doesn't even own. She'll probably decide that we have to eat in the garage (with no heat) because she doesn't want her house dirty. If we do get to stay in her 'fabulous chateau'..there won't be enough room to sit at the table and I'll end up sitting on the floor or downstairs with the little kids like usual. Stupid big family..stupid Thanksgiving.

Hmm, me, i'll wake up late, get online for abit. Take a nap in the evening, then goto work at midnight...

I turned down all invites this year. I'm staying home, drinking some rum, watching some movies and taking a break from all the holiday crap.
