My opinion on heaven and hell is that it's one of the best albums black sabbath ever made, and it's also severly underrated simply because Ozzy ain't on it.

I believe in an afterlife, and I believe what we do in this life has consequences in that afterlife. So yeah, i guess you could say I believe in heaven and hell.

But...

I also believe in purgatory.....

purgatory as in where souls wait to be born or where souls go to suffer?

From what i've read, the concept of purgatory comes from a Jesus quote : "...but a sin against the Holy Spirit shall not be forgiven, in this life or the next."

I'm not sure what a sin against the Holy Spirit would be (sounds pretty nasty), but because he says "in this life or the next." it implies an existance after death but before "final judgement" (heaven or hell). So the Catholic church created the notion of purgatory as a cleansing fire where souls would go before they were allowed into heaven.

My roomate and I once had a big argument over this. He was a buddist and also believed in reincarnation. We hashed out how purgatory could be the same thing as reincarnation, where the "cleansing fire" could mean having to live out another life.

We were actually pretty excited at the thought of uniting christianity and buddisim, but no one else seemed to care. We did get really drunk on tequilia, though.

well...uhhh the tequilia wasn't part of the disscusion, we just had it afterwards to celebrate the unification of our two religions.

why thank you...I think she'll stay for awhile... No I think that earth is a place for us to show if we are ready to transcend or not, kind of a big testing place, you pass, you get a happy after life, you fail...well...the idea si to not fail

personnally, I think we'll each have many lives here, and teach ourselves what we need to learn in order to DESERVE the last place... whatever that is...
