yeah, I get the feeling that the general concensus of the this thread is that its a bad idea, and will only make problems worse. Yes we need stiffer penalties(or in some cases, equal rights), but this is not one of the more effective ones.

I disagree with castration. It will not solve the aggressors problems; in fact it may enhance thier aggression and we may be putting worse monsters on the streets. If you want to stop it make the consequences worse and put them to death.

In my case

1. get them out of society for good without having to feed them anymore.
2. Repay thier debt to society, a life for a life etc.

you skipped these and focused on the 3rd one, I would hardly they those are irrelevant to the topic. I know I know, you dont want to talk about those reasons because then you cant mouth off about some moral bullshit and then you feel less secure not using ridiculous emotionalism... its ok.

1. all violent criminals should die because they cause more harm than good. they are not worthy of the life they have. no one really is. we agree not to kill each other as long as nobody fucks with each other. that's called society, boys and girls. if you don't want to live in society, that's fine too, but don't expect the rest of us to let you do whatever the fuck you want.

2. it's totally fucking irrelevant whether we like watching people die or not. i too enjoy the idea of people getting what they deserve - death or whatever else it may be. this isn't the reason why we should do it but a good reason why it shouldn't be out of the question.

3. castrating pedophiles is like cutting the hands off thieves, isn't it. why don't we do that, too? because it's wrong? no, because it doesn't work. as long as people who break societies laws are allowed to live in society, they remain a threat to society. end of story. what we need is the balls to do what needs to be done. fuck humanity. it's inhumane not to kill them and put the innocent at risk.

4. castration is less effective, more expensive, and more inhumane than just killing somebody. prove me wrong.

Morals and laws don't always mean the same thing. There are things that are morally very wrong in my view, but are legal, and there are things that I think are ok that are illegal. As long as we're talking violent unprovoked crime here though, I guess we are ok. Laws take a long time to change and they don't always reflect our own morals.

I think many people that are in jail should not even be there. We put our country's overstayers in jail until they can be deported. Jail is crime school and a dangerous place to be. Just because you break the law, doesn't make you a bad person. I know a mother that has a child here and overstayed because she didn't want to leave her child - she can't take the child out of the country because to do that you need both parents permission and the father wont consent. Does this woman deserve to go to prison?

Is there anyone here that hasn't broken the law? Never sped? Never stolen something? Never touched drugs? Never parked without paying? Never hit someone?

i can definitely agree that morals and laws aren't coinciding, in fact, as you said, they aren't even that smilar at times. however, laws are the closest thing we've got to a list of "don't do this because it's wrong" that we've got. if the laws are wrong, we should change the laws. we shouldn't just not enforce the laws because we don't like them. that is to say, why have a law we don't want to enforce?

and i know we've all broken the law before, but taking people out of society doesn't have to be fair. i mean, if you get away with it, you get to remain in society. and it will always be like that forever. just because some of us get away with it isn't a good reason to let others off the hook, though. and i definitely think there's a difference between violent crime and stealing, drugs, speeding, etc. i agree the laws need some work.

I am opposed to mutilating convicted rapists, peodophiles bits. This is inhumane, a form of torture because it will not be done under aneastetic because this will cost the nation billions of blood of innocent Iraqies dollars paying for anaesthia to be delivered.
